Internalized racism & nationalism

What makes or drives someone to hate their own race or cultural background? Not much to understand here. Is it that they hate themselves?

Media is a big part of it. People also desire things they can't be and can't accept who and what they are. Nationalism existed forever, You can change your nationality by moving to that nation. But you can't change where you came from.

Because there are nuances here. One may be of a certain ethnic background without relating at all to the culture of said ethnicity or country for that matter.

Happens all the time.

I've mostly lived as an expat. Travelled a lot with my family. Born in France. I'm french, but I don't relate to the culture at all. I never lived there long enough to feel like one.

Just as I've known some french people, white, who grew up in African countries and they certainly don't relate as white. In their eyes, they're African by culture and french by nationality.

I'm International, is what I call myself.

Cultural background or history.

Say like you're german or german descent and you hate germans or Germany. To the point where you call germans or german descendants Nazi's.

Funny you brought that up because if we stay in your framework of "generalizations," who owns most of the weave stores? Asians. So I ask, is it not an inferiority complex as well to take money from someone who has that same complex in order to build oneself up? So I agree with you on the nearing fruit part...again...if we stick with your general assumptions...so therefore...taking advantage of a "complex" shows weakness...not strength. I rest my case.

It is culture (and media is a reflection of culture) to drive someone, mostly immigrants, to hate themselves, though hate is a strong word. It is usually just low self-image, not hate. You can see it within the United States as you travel throughout regions. For example, commercials that are made for the nation but are locally edited will show varying roles between whites and minorities. In some regions whites will appear in very benevolent but very stratified roles while in others they will appear more apologetic. There was a citibank commercial years back that showed an american travelling and able to withdraw money easily from a bank atm no matter which country he was in while the locals would all appear confused and angry. The degree that the confusion and anger of the local population and time in the commercial was directly dependent on which region of the united states the commercial was shown in. Truck commercials are notorius for this too, watch the same Ford or Chevy commercial in Texas, the south, the midwest and the coastal regions and they will all be edited differently. Look at newspaper images in each region and you will see minorities only with sad, glum looks, angry faces or snarls in one region of the country and bright happy smiles in another. Even word choice matters for headlines and whether a story is reported at all.

This is not because race or color solely drives these decisions, but because it is a reflection of the underlying culture. If this concept is not familiar, use politics as an example, notice Clinton's usually in a very angry, pouty facial expression on conservative news outlets and Trump the same on liberal news outlets while both will only show their own candidate in a particular positive light. The more self-proclaimed "neutral" news will try to sway away from this aspect of human nature is hard to control.

Regarding penis sizes, races and regions. Almost all of the studies are flaky so claiming anything on average about a race's penis size is shaky at best. Look deeper into articles and charts and they will reference studies and the first thing they will say is something like "no official scientific study exists but based on this person's data" and the data will be a small clinic in a non-diverse area or "self reported data." Which means there is little chance for truth and again culture will play a huge role whether and how much a male will lie about his penis size in a survey. The Irish used to have the stereotype of having small penises especially when they were first immigrants and as they were more accepted into american society, strangely too so did their stereotype about penis size go more towards the average. Same with african americans, as they are more accepted their stereotypes will not stray as far from the norm.

Look at it like this, the more that a minority group is not part of the mainstream, the more the stereotypes about them will be from the norm. They will be exoticised and reportedly different in many aspects of culture. This reflects on them in self-image and is somewhat the burden of being an immigrant, until (if and when) that group gets accepted into the mainstream.

Sometimes it's seeing your race behaving worse than animals. I'm sometimes ashamed of my race even though I don't voice it. I'll be the first to point out the flaws of my race.

Do you guys think it would be better if the planet were of one culture, one nation, etc or if it was many many cultures, governments, nations?

It would be better if we understood the many cultures and respected the fact that we still the same even with all our differences.

I don't need to give a list of reasons, we all know what the white man is capable of. But the big reason I hate our culture is due to how we have completely destroyed the land we and many other species call home.

I have the utmost respect for the way of life Native Americans lead before we came and ruined it all. The entire world could have learned so much from them.. and now even many of them have lost touch with that way of life due to us. The world could be a completely different place. They were able to live off of the land but also in harmony with it, taking only what they needed to survive and not disrupting the balance. They were not draining our natural resources or completely destroying / disrupting the environment and wildlife. This place flourished and was beautiful. Then the white man strolled in and were just like.. Nope we know everything, it's going to go our way now.. And now look what we have.. The water is polluted, the air smells like garbage, our forests are bare and our wildlife is suffering.. If that's not enough reason to dislike my entire race, I don't know what is..

To answer the original question OP.. I do hate myself. Because this is the way I was raised, this is the world I was brought into. I was raised to drive a car and use a microwave and to succumb to all the convenience we have unnecessarily created. Things could have been better, we all could have learned to live a simpler way of life, but No.. All hope is now gone, we've done too much damage.

As a Native American myself. Well partially. My dad is native and my mom was white. While some have a grudge hatred for the white or any other race in america, I don't hold any ill will towards them at all or at anyone.. Not because I have some white heritage also. But because there is nothing good that comes out of it. What happened in the past is terrible and seem unforgivable. But that is in the past and there is no way anyone can go back and change things. Holding a grudge or seek revenge won't change it and make things worse for everyone. Only thing people could do now is learn from the mistakes that are made in the past and hope they use this knowledge to build a better future.

Excellent post! I think we should all be self aware about the flaws of our races. To hell with political correctness. The society has become so fake that the truth is shunned in the name racism. Every race has its flaw and to point them out isn't racism. The proof is in the pudding. The Middle Eastern race is aggressive and it shows it's aggression in their barbarianism. Are all middle easterns like that? Hell no! But majority are because it is an aggressive race as most Mediterranean races are.
