Posted by Superman77Listen, I love this country. More than most. I love what it has done for my family. I respect the military very much. I support the troops. My bestfriend is National Guard reservist now, my boyfriend is ex Air Force, his dad is ex-Marine, his brother is Marine, my roommate/bestfriend is ex Air Force. I can go on and on, about how many people that are close to me are military and how much I respect and honor them.
At this point in time, it doesn’t really matter.
Sit, kneel or stand.
There’s no honor or patriotism in this country. Zero pride.

Posted by ArkansassyYea, I read that. Which, I guess is a step forward. I was just addressing his statement about no honor.Posted by nikkistarPosted by Superman77

HOWEVER, our country was founded from rebellion. It afforded us the constitutional rights to allow for us the freedom of speech. The freedom to demonstrate against what we feel is wrong. I may not agree with the kneeling myself, because I wouldn't do it because of my own personal feelings about this country and how my family benefited. But they have every right to demonstrate for their beliefs. They aren't being violent. They aren't doing anything wrong in my eyes, but enforcing their rights that our country affords them. They are rebelling and making a statement that until our country honors them, by fixing an unequal justice system, why should they honor the country? And it is done civilly as well. No riots. No violence. Just quiet demonstration.
It needs to be fixed, and it needs to be addressed. And I have zero issue with the kneeling, even if I wouldn't do it myself. That is the beauty of this country. How does one honor a country, that doesn't honor them? click to expand
Tbf..
Earlier this week, the league finalized an $ 89 million social justice platform with players to help address "some of the underlying issues" that were under protest. click to expandclick to expand

Posted by MadHatterIt might be that too but i'm more inclined to think it's purpose is to instill patriotism in as many citizens as possible. The flag thing, displaying it everywhere, is done for the same thing.
They didn't used to.. except for the super bowl. Even then the players remained in the locker room until they were introduced.
The military pays the NFL to have the players on the field during the whole intro. It's a recruiting tactic for the military.

Posted by LaMadrinaSigh. You know, I never disputed what has happened to the Native, nor what the British did to them. That is not the discussion at hand. So have fun with that.Posted by nikkistarPosted by Superman77

Girl please. This country wasn't "found". That's like me coming into your home, killing you and everyone inside. Hell, killing everyone in your neighborhood, then bringing my people here and saying look what we found. This country was built off innocent Native blood and lies. Until we get to the truth and change all nonsense this country will never be shit. But hey, as long as you and others get what they can from a constantly raped and still illegal land, then God bless America, right? Whatever.
People love the privilege and the materialistic life style America provides, but who the hell loves America so much that they are willing to actually roll up their sleeves and clean this bitch up? Nobody. Land stolen so what. People who've built this country constantly discriminated against and killed so what. Lies constantly being accepted as truth so what. Fuck America. Until you people get your shit right, fuck "your" country. It isnt even rightfully yours. click to expandclick to expand

Posted by MadHatterI won't argue such a local thing because i've never even been to a US football game.
The NFL gets paid millions to have all branches of service on the field. It was budgeted as a recruitment expense. The typical viewer is what the military is looking for, if you think about it, loyal to a uniform, colors, mascot, will fight even when wrong, etc. It's freakin perfect! click to expand

Posted by Superman77And you don't have to agree. That's fine.
I 100% agree with what they’re protesting
I 100% disagree with the way they’re protesting

Posted by Superman77I think that has more to do with the fact that you view it as a disrespecting this country. With you being a Veteran, you took an oath to serve and protect. So for you, it feels more like a personal disrespect to do so. Military often feel that way.Posted by nikkistarPosted by Superman77

And you don't have to agree. That's fine.
I think the problem lies in the way you word things. It comes off as you are dictating what they can or can't do. You don't have to agree with it, you can understand it, and not do it yourself. But, it is their right to do so. click to expand
You’re probably right. I don’t sugarcoat things, sensitive or not. I’m not very PC either.
I’ve never said that I think what they’re protesting is bogus. I KNOW it’s not bogus. However, I think (coming from a privileged white guy) the manner in which said protests are being demonstrated, isn’t right.

Posted by ImpulsvThis. Right, motherfucking here.Posted by Superman77Yes but my point is my employer doesn’t force to go against my 2nd amendment on a daily basis click to expandPosted by Impulsv
The thing is it’s an employer
And they can set their own policies
For example in Cali pot is legal but if I want to remain working n it is a zero policy I must abide if I want to remain employed.
Now my job doesn’t force me to kneel or stand up for any religion or pledge to America everyday
Is that unconstitutional?
Kinda falls in the same category in my book click to expandclick to expand

Can't say I didn't see this coming.
I suspect season ticket purchases are down, among other sources of revenue.
Be interesting to see that data.
