Lying and Dishonesty

Lying is a subset of dishonesty.
I see and I agree on a fundamental level. To me a lie has no factual truth in it. Dishonestly however has some truth to it except the most important part. Both lead to creating an illusion to mask the truth at its core. The thing is dishonesty is in a way picks at you because your intuition often knows better. Its a tease lol.
You can't lie without being dishonest but you can be dishonest without telling a lie.
A lie is speaking a non truth.
Deception doesn't necessarily need you to lie. It is when you allow someone to believe a fallacy or lead them to the wrong conclusion.

It's like if there were a door that lead to a dark room with a 1,000 ft hole and you knew what was in the room and a passerby said "Is it dangerous to go in here?" and you said "Hey man, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." And they said "You know, you're right." And then they proceeded to walk in and fall to their death.
I didn't tell a lie. I didn't say it would or wouldn't kill him. But I used language that directed him into danger.

seriously, he immediately popped in my head after reading that.
we used to go round and round on this topic. Withoulding the truth is always a lie, in my own personal opinion.

I couldn't read it all. It gets too depressing. I laugh at how ridiculous dxp can get and at the same time it's very sad.

This may be a hard topic to discuss. Is there a difference between lying and being dishonest? To me, being dishonest is worst than lying because you're not giving the full truth...only part of it. Is one worse than the other?
