Western agenda. To be clear this shit happens, I'm not disputing that. But it's obvious there is something to be gained by the western media, in light of their waning influence and the resurgence of new global powers such as China, in mainly portraying Chinese society/culture/people in an unflattering terms. Hell, they do the same in China towards foreigner nations.

Not really that touch?! It was a short-lived trend, and for obvious reasons. It was NOT a typically Western "thing".
This is not an isolated incident either, so let's not get too politically correct here. Fact is, every time some new, briliant way of torturing animals surfaces, the Chinese are always involved! Whats with their fucked up relationship to living things? Do they have sadism in their genes or what?
Why can't this just be a global problem?
Is it just me or does it feel like the whole damn world has lost its mind in the last few years or so? Granted I didn't pay attention, but I don't remember things being this crazy when I was younger. :/

A very valid point. I can't imagine an existence where I would ever consider running a child in the road as an acceptable form of behavior though. Or even keeping a live animal in a damn keychain. Half the disgusting stuff some people do. 😢

It's easy to label things "trends" if they occurred in the past. Because they have a definitive starting and stopping point. The key chain thing is still ongoing, but who's to say it won't end in XX amount of months or years and be considered a "trend" in the future?
I'm sure it will as soon as they find a more sadistic ways of treating animals 🙂

People haven't really progressed. Maybe technologically we have, making us more dependable and lazy to do things.
I know what you mean. We like to think we're "civilized" but people are really still the same barbarians they've always been. And if anything, I think our technological advances are helping to dumb us down more as well as becoming lazy and socially inept. Didn't Einstein have a quote once about fearing that technology in the future would make people stupid?

It could be argued that morality is subjective and correlates with the life style and/or socioeconomic status one is born and raised into. There are people who believe it's immoral behavior to be homosexual, or those that think polygamy is perfectly acceptable when others don't. We could even cite the old story about Robin Hood for an example. To the people the character stole from, he was a thief and a menace to society. But to lower classes he was a hero.

We kill animals in the West as well, but in China they have perfected sadism towards animals into an artform! It's not about 'animal testing', it's purely about their fucked up sense of FUN! And altough I fully acknowledge it's about perspective, I am talking from the perspective of my own cultural upbringing, duh!
If you want I could go all philosophocal on your asses, and say there is nothing wrong with killing people or animals, that there is no God or 'moral compass' in the big old sky, and that it's just human nature. But that's not really the discussion we're having here....

TMV. It was terrifying. This couple were running all over the country side trying to out run the police. The hidden camera guy was with them. When they got caught the mother was horrified. It was a very intense doc and funnily enough only aired once and was never posted on YouTube or anything. Which I thought was weird.
That's horrible. Definitely brings out my own vigilante wannabe side. 😢
Funny how things like that only get aired one time. I've noticed this happen to other news stories too.

Never said I wasn't a player lol. I do have a fine appreciation for the carnal and hedonistic delight, some of which is found only in moments passing through time.

lol yeah I didn't think that. Trust me I don't have the ability to do even that.
Boundary and lines are my favorite words regarding that particular part of life. I have trouble separating my emotions with intimacy so there are definitely concrete barriers not to be crossed. But if things remain on a superficial level then that side never activates for me.
