Posted by LePetitFiskThat's a strange way to indulge. Why not offer something useful for the body? Ugh! Fitness starts with nutrition, and most people already know how to eat bad food. ?
I suppose that the pizza and bagels are a way to tell their members they don't have to deprive themselves? idfk.
I have been to a PF, and they are more than adequately equipped for the casual fitness enthusiast- they have circuit machines, benches and free weights. But if you're doing shit like power squats or clean & jerks, PF wont have appropriate equipment for you since they only have smith machines from what I have seen. This type of environment also put member who are easily intimidated by the roided meatheads bc their dumbbells stop at 100 lbs.

It's fine... and at $ 10, it's worth a try.
Hell, you can't even buy a large pizza for $ 10.

Honey, you don't need a gym to work out.
Stop preaching shit you know nothing about, too.click to expand

Posted by nanobyteYo! Thanks so much for this insight! That's hilarious! The pizza/bagel thing IS really comical.
I go to PF. My best friend is very fit, as well as a guy I used to see, and they both used to make fun of me for it lol. The gym has a very bad "reputation" as in... it is laughed at by health and fitness gurus. Probably in part to the pizza/bagels, the whole "judge free zone", the shameful lunk alarm, and known for people who have no idea what they were doing (you can find so many videos online and they are often shared through social media). These 2 guys went to Gold's Gym and both liked it and always tried to get me to go over there. I am not that invested in it to justify spending $ 25/month right now (poor AF student), but if I was, I would go to Gold's Gym.
I am not a gym rat, I normally have to force myself to work out so PF more than suffices. I like the elliptical and stair machines. Sometimes I just work out at home, or go to nature trails for some exercise.
I saw a man the other day working out at PF with sandals no socks, jeans and belt, and a button up shirt on..... idk dude..........

Posted by EvoxxxscorpioI'm really into my deadlifting, pull ups, and weight training. I think that spending $ 10 for the month isn't THAT BAD of an investment. I mean, if I don't spend the $ 10 on a gym subscription, it'll probably go to eating out or something just as "pointless."

Posted by MontgomeryI think you're right. It's also just temporary until I can utilize my college campus's gym.

I am so shocked at how cheap gyms are in the states
Gold's here is like $ 300 a month
$ 25 gets you a no air con nasty ass gym
Even the gnc is cheap in murica
They add on about 2/3 the price here

Posted by EvoxxxscorpioI need to invest in some kettle bells and dumbbells of my own, but any money I have, I want to spend on yoga swag. I'm currently saving up for a Pranamat! I can only do one legged squats when I am stepping onto a higher surface. I can't wait till I can do those cool ass-to-grass extended leg squats.Posted by LillyPetalI hAve dumbbells and kettlebells I don't squat that heavy anymore. Posted by InsertusernameYeah, the 24-hr availability is great. I have my own routine, so I shouldn't get caught up in the bells and whistles since this is a short-term solution.
I go to PF. It's a good gym, I can go to any location and utilize all of their amenities with the black card and it's open 24 hours. If you're not looking for anything crazy, I don't see why it's not a good choice .

Posted by LillyPetalI feel like they're knowledgeable, even the people at the front desk are helpful and don't treat you like an inconvenience. You can build your own workout with a trainer and they'll give you a game plan, or join in on the group of like 5 or so and do it with them.Posted by InsertusernameYeah, the 24-hr availability is great. Posted by LillyPetalDon't do Planet Fitness, it's ultimately not worth it. They literally shame people for being too fit. While their goal was to originally create a workout environment "without judgement", they will literally judge you if you're too fit, look too good, or aren't "average" enough. This is ESPECIALLY true if you want to do any lifts (i.e. dead lifts, squats, etc)
So, I have a major schedule change coming up in June, and I won't be able to utilize my campus gym. So, I'm thinking about joining a "24/7" fitness center for the sake of workout flexibility. I'd be able to make use of their weight room until I'm back on my regular schedule.
So, I am looking at Planet Fitness, but it's so odd to me that they are serving up pizza and bagels. That was the first thing I saw when I visited their page. That just makes no sense to me and I seem to have lost all respect for them. I'm suspicious that they are even a fitness center. I mean, really? Pizza and bagels??
Anyway, for $ 10 for the month of June, maybe that bizarre quirk can be ignored and they actually have a good weightlifting area.
Gold's Gym is another option, but they are pricier at $ 25 for the month.
Anyone here with a Planet Fitness (PF) subscription? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you actually take time out of your workout to down greasy and heavy foods that they offer you? Do tell!

Yeah so you can basically have the trainer work with you one on one for an hour and set up a routine for you. Or you can join in on the class. So they'll have an ab workout for thirty minutes and they're supposed to walk you through it so you know what to do. I think only like 5 ppl max can sign up for it. It's cool because it's free, if you do the 20 $ membership.
