It's the secret to life 😉 if you have a capable bitch by your side, you can't lose! I respect boundaries and the man's "need" to provide/do certain things. However, I cannot play the damsel in distress act (or even ask for help). There are things a man needs so he can feel like a man, I get that. But at the end if the day, you're in my life by choice not necessity.

I don't so much think that it's the fact that a woman is strong, independent & smart that turn men off
Hell a lot of men complain all the time about dumb, unintelligent, door-mat kind of women, so obviously that's not it
I think it's that women like this just so happen to bring OTHER negative traits that come with the territory of women like this
For example, some men say that a woman who is very independent can sometimes be too judgmental or materialistic. He loves that she's got her own, BUT he dislikes the fact that when it's time for him to step up & do things for her/provide for her, she won't let him....i.e. emasculates him.
Another example. Some men say that a woman who is very smart might also have the "know it all" trait. He loves that she's smart, but hates the fact that she thinks she's smarter than everybody else. HUGE DIFFERENCE. And b/c he himself has a hard time communicating with her b/c she's such a "right" fighter or feels her intelligence is superior to everyone else's (including his), this turns him off as a whole.
It's not that being strong, independent & smart are what's so bad or intimidating. It's the other negative traits like being a know it all, being extremely shallow (she has it all so she expects her man to live a presidential life style ), being overly critical (she went thru a lot to get where she is, so she has no sympathy or tenderness for a man who might be struggling), etc.
Think of the flip side when it comes to men. Women LOVE a smooth talker. BUT it just so happens that a lot of smooth talkers just so happen to ALSO be players. So a woman might stay away from a smooth talker altogether b/c she believes that other negative traits naturally come with that territory
It's all really stereotypical, but hey perception is reality
