The piece for my daughter is her free, free from diabetes, free from hospital visits, needles and pain. Dancing and so very alive, in love with life, just as she always was before we found out she was so very sick. And even that didn't stop her. The butterflies are for metamorphosis from one plane of existence to the next. Shortly after she passed my sister had a dream of her under a willow tree and masses of butterflies landed on her, fluttered away and came back to her over and over again. The symbolism of this was not lost on me.
I'd like to put this on my left side, close to my heart, where she will always and forever be.

i have one on the upper middle part of my back; right about 2 inches from the neck.

it's all black. it's a creature that has dragon-like features. it is derived from a story series that an old, now deceased friend, was writing. it was her favorite character even though it was not the main one nor could it speak. it was her main's minion/pet.

i got it in honor and in memory of her. i also got it cuz i liked it a lot too, i could, and it was at no cost to me. what's weird is that it was done by this old school tattoo artist in my hometown who was also the owner of the parlor i received it. he died a mere couple of weeks after my appointment. he wasn't even 60 yet! spooooky 😛

Thank you for sharing. I can't imagine how you feel...but you seem to have a good spirit. I hope she rests eternally in peace.

Thank you ladies, very much. It's very hard, and will continue to be so for the rest of my life. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in April of last year, and passed in August. She was what the old timers call 'brittle'. Her numbers all over the map, hard to control, resistant to her insulin. She went into a very ugly shock, rushed her to hospital where she slipped into a coma, resulting in brain swelling and death. Her father and I took her off of life support when the neurologist said there was no brain activity, our little girl was gone. I climbed into bed with her and held her, saying everything I could and pouring my love into her, her father at her side. To say that this is hard is the understatement of the century. No parent should ever go through this, never, ever.
I gave my Warrior fire, I could not bear the thought of putting my girl in the ground. I gathered all her most precious things and a cookie so large it was obscene, 60 grams of carbs to be with her, and she's here at home with me.
I'm sorry if any of this doesn't make sense, can't see the screen so hot right now. But I cling to the fact that we will be together again some day.

I shan't apologize for grieving my daughter, but I will if I made anyone uncomfortable. ^^ was not meant to be a thread ender, it's just a part of me now.

Does anyone else have tats? It's usually quite a personal thing, the design and thought put into them are amazing stories. I think everyones sounds lovely. And you're right Leo Lady, ink on a good looking man is sessi!

i am so sorry for your loss venusianbull.

my man is a tattoo artist and has a almost a sleeve done. he did them all himself. there's soo many i can't list them all. the theme are classic horror characters. he loves horror movies.

the other's are:

johnny carson - favorite late night host
christopher walken - favorite actor of all time
a god's eye with his children's initials - he's not allowed to see his sons, so he carries them with him.
hippo stomping a skateboard - this one has alil bit of a story. he was ran over by a lift and was told he could never skateboard again. well, we realized that his muscles where going to atrophy. so, he said screw what the dr said and conquered it with ............. skateboarding, his favorite sport. since he started again, he and his right leg has never felt better.
and a huge beautiful bright orange trigger fish - i'm not exactly sure why he has this one.

the ones i listed are on his right arm that he had an apprentice do for him. the god's eye and the trigger are on his left leg and he did those himself.
