What's your ASMR trigger?

Audio sensory meridian response : theres lots of videos on youtube of people going to a lot of trouble to give you the sensation of the shivers when you pee....(not really but like it) not everyone gets the pee shivers but if you dont it kinda feels like what this sounds like

Me too! Eeeeeeeeck! Fingernail doing that ugh! That's why i keep mine short.

That and hearing my co worker chew crushed ice with her mouth open...

Like everyday.for 2 years and i haven't said a word!

Was thinking about this a bit longer. It seems as if all cutting injuries have this effect. But more so when glass or metal lids are involved.

I read somewhere how our phobias are really signs of a specific childhood memory we need to face. I'll have to Google up on how to make peace with the bad associations.

Were you cut deep or witnessed someone who was? It could be the link. I dunno. Js. I'd like to know so I can quit having that gif face : )

ASMR is basically a massage for the brain (an audio massage - that is). In most cases - it helps people relax - it helps them fall asleep (for this reason, it's highly recommended - to be avoided while driving or while doing something that could put your life in danger - if you're to fall asleep). It's also worth to be added that - due to its relaxing effects - there's plenty who prays it - as being helpful in dealing with moments of anxiety/stress.

Though, the ASMR community keeps growing - and with its growth there's more and more people who want to practice it as well - and ofc, they're not all that good or interesting, some are quite weird - and those are the ones who give a bad name to ASMR. Thus, you either search for quality content or you stick with the favorites - with ASMR artists that proved to be quite good at what they're doing (they have lots of subscribers as well).

Also, you need a good pair of headphones/earbuds - after all - it's an audio experience.

Other than that, it's same as with a physical massage...

You just need a private place - that's quiet, a place where you can relax and enjoy it in peace (without being bothered by anyone). The visual experience is optional (it's not necessary), it's more about the audio - so you can lie on your back and listen to ASMR - like listening to music (the relaxing kind).

Some people get hooked right away (they're more sensible - i suppose), though - it took me couple of days to get into it - and understand what it's about (how it works). I guess i was lucky - that i'm not the kind who gives up on first try - cause i would have missed-out on something that proved to be quite great (beyond my expectations - that's for sure). It's quite likely that - things used to be the same for the people who were introduce to Physical/Massage Therapy - for the first time. The ones that were whiling to give it a try end-up enjoying it - while others took it as weird and perverted thing - where some strangers are suppose to touch their bodies in all kinds of ways. ^^

I like Maria's voice (GentleWhispering), i find it quite soothing. ^^ Sometimes i listen to her ASRM role-plays - in Russian, like this one:

Strangely... before I knew what A(udio)SMR meant-- the visual aspect would

send shivers up spine.

Like watching someone draw/paint... I'd fall right asleep

Once I figured it out-- whole new dimension 😄
