I live about a mile and a half from the track.
My black neighbors leave town for the entire weekend during both races.
Why?
Because of the rude, insulting, and ignorant behavior of a good portion of the race crowds.
There doesn't need to be "white" in the race name to specify the preferred "type" of person welcome at the track.

White people don't leave town during NBA games because they CHOOSE to stay. That's a weak retort there. If they don't want to leave town because there are too many white people that's a choice not a requirement. We have laws for harassment. To add to your comment having an awards ceremony depicting black people doesn't help either now does it?

I think the point that you're missing LIB about stations like BET is they were created and exist as an avenue for black actors, singers, hip hop artist, producers, directors, entrepreneurs etc to have their creative visions realized in an industry that overlooks minorities (all minorities not just black) and provides very little in the way of entertainment opportunities. Whether you want to admit it or not, hollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole is an extremely racist and sexist industry. While I do not watch BET, I understand the reason it was originally created. The need to give black people an open door into an industry where most are shut. It's not about segregation from other races so much is it's about empowering those within your race to be more than the stereotypes and showing that faces like theirs can make it on tv. Now if the channel completely alienated all things white, or racially otherwise then I could see the point that you're trying to make about segregation. But that simply is not the case and there is nothing wrong with empowerment to be better in face of so much adversity. I'd say that that is black people "trying" as you mentioned. Do you honestly believe that even half the shows that appear on BET would be welcome on ABC or FOX or any of the mainstream channels? I can assure you if they were there would not be a BET channel, because those channels listed above receive stronger viewership, better advertisements and reach larger audience. And while they may allow the occasional black writer, actor etc they are majorly white influenced...and that's just the facts no matter how much one might wish it weren't.

Network TV is funded by advertising, and advertisers want to air their ads during shows that reach the maximum number of people as possible...hence shows are geared towards whites to maximize viewership and hence advertising dollars.
It's not do much racist as it is simply a function of numbers and money.
Thus minorities dont get to be represented on awards shows such as the emmys.

we could go round and round for eons on this and thats why racism will never end. Everyone wants to be right. Yes you can name the same few people who managed to climb to the top but its always that same bag full of black people. Extraordinary black people who had to be such for you to be able to throw those names out as the go to ammunition. But think about the everyday shows, the how I met your mother, or friends, or 3rd rock from the sun and so on. The not huge stars the not huge shows, the everyday makeup of that industry is simply not MINORITY dominated. It's not a crime, I'm not even mad about it, but it is the truth.
Currently on the cable my town provides there is an indian channel, jewish channel, lgbt channel, asian channel, spanish channel and the list goes on. It's understandable to want to cater to your culture first and american/world culture secondarily. I think it sucks that that bothers so many people and that instead of looking at the positives we must always push the negatives. And thats black, white, green and so forth. Everyone's mad at the other race. Everyone wants there struggle to be the supreme struggle. Futher please tell me where I said NO black entertainers?
