because your lovely President Obama said this, "If I Had a Son, He'd Look Like Trayvon"

—I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.??

"All of us have to do some soul-searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident."

They're just mere words coming from the president though

This isn't the first time someone was shot and killed in the name of stand your ground law. This time it was a young black boy shot and killed. Then you have Obama's influence, Jesse Jackson, The U.S. Justice Department investigating, the fbi. Its amazing these federal organizations start investigating a murder as if this is the first murder in the history of the US

Then to answer the ditz's question about why Zimmerman was carrying a gun, second amendment and the right to defense

Obama has an agenda (disarm the citizenry), and he couldn't let this "crisis" go to waste.

He was capitalizing on it-- plain and simple.

Why hasn't anyone asked Trayvon's parents why they thought it was okay for him as a young black male to go walking through a predominantly white neighborhood that was recently the target of burglaries, at night, wearing a hoodie, to go get candy and iced tea?

Not saying Trayvon deserved it or that Zimmerman was right...but FFS where are people's common sense anymore. Hell I wouldn't let my WHITER THAN RICE son do that. You can hold off on the junk food.

Everyone knows there are fucktards like Zimmerman out there. Everyone knows Florida is full of crazy fuckers. Why would go poke the sleeping bear with a stick?

because we live in the day and the age where people of color don't have to worry about lynch mobs

Because this is still a free country. He had the right to go out, shop and get home safely.

Again, I wouldn't let my white son do that. It's just dumb.

What's really sad is that even this discussion misses the point. Just another "this is what you should talk about" thread or "look over there while I snatch your wallet out of your back pocket." We sit here and argue over the most basic things while the truly powerful continue to rob us blind...and they're of all races and both gender. While this subject and things like abortion are important, they're used as attention getters to distract us from what's really going on. When do we get our heads out of our asses and stop acting on basic instinct and think on a higher level? That's the problem. All talk about high morals, principles, and right or wrong but no putting it to practice and then we stand around and wonder why shit is the way it is...even on this site.

"Why beautifulsoul!" "We just need a stress reliever!" Okay. If you haven't noticed, the problem has gotten so big that the only relief is to fix it as it has crept into the depths of our lives. Eliminate the basic problems. Hypocrisy, lack of compassion or empathy, selfishness. You dug yourself that deep so dig yourself out. But if we come together and work as a team, we'd get out of this hole a lot faster and easier. But maybe I'm just dreaming again. Continue on.

Insurrection is only good when it is headed in the right direction and its purpose is to cure and bring together...not to divide.

There are a thousand Trayvon Martins everyday. I see it all the time but yet true justice is not served because if what happens in the courtroom. Righteousness gets lost in the argument. I'm in law school and even my professors admitted this...its not about the law but who makes the best argument or most convincing. Wordplay and subtle manipulation. Arguing over the meaning of one word to cloud the truth and misdirect. Like a drug dealer who asks for a lighter sentence when he/she gets caught. You knew you were doing wrong and didn't think about it then. Now you want to evade the consequences.

My point is this. If you're going to discuss something. Come with an open mind and heart. All we tend to do is have turf battles with ideas that miss the point. If you are to learn, you have to unfix yourself and be willing to break free. While no one knows the whole truth about life, you'll never get to it while standing still. There are somethings, some truths that are obvious. Laws that cannot be broken no matter how you try. Consequences that cannot be avoided.

You're right in theory. Real life doesn't work that way.

I guess he could have had a chaperone, but the store was close to home and like many parents they probably though it could never happen to them.
