The Crew - with Libran's Viggo Mortensen & Jeremy Sisto

"Five people set sail for a relaxing weekend cruise, only to have their calmness shattered when they spot a burning boat off the horizon... and so." ..another nice lil gem.

Shooter (2007) - Mark Wahlberg

"A marksman (Wahlberg) living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why."

good movie, i like gemini Wahlberg, but always wondered where this xtra emotional depth & intensity came from, til i astrothemed him..lol Moon in scorpio, Asc in cancer, Mc in pisces. Uranus square Asc/Mars in Aqua, so he's a bit of a rebel too. I also liked him in "The Perfect Storm" ..

The Brave One (2007 )..Jodie Foster

I loved this movie, and Foster is one of my favorite female leads. Thought it was a highly intense, raw take on the vigilante theme and the nature of justice or injustice, by a woman driven to be judge, jury, and executioner. The story tells how fear can change a person, and explores the dark inner psyche and desperation inside Erica's mind to right all the wrongs. Nice to see it from a female pov. i like how Foster plays the tougher, stronger female roles and is completely herself. Solid. Definately, one of her BEST!!

I saw "Something the Lord Made". It was moving.

Jodie Foster is one of my favorites. Though she made a major mistake in choosing to star in "Contact", "The Brave One", and that airplane movie- the one where her daughter went missing.

Love her performances though. Those three movies just sucked overall.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, very original storyline, good acting and lots of gore.

The Wrestler. It was a nice character-driven movie with good performances by Rourke and Tomei. It wasn't a very ambitious film, but it was well done, despite some aspects of it that were over the top.

There Will Be Blood. Interesting movie. It has DDL playing a complex character very well and a couple of awesome scenes("I drink your milkshake"). I couldn't really follow the main character's reasoning for some of his actions. It felt pointless.

Persepolis. A nice animated movie about the experience of one progressive-minded girl going through the Iranian revolution and her life in post-revolutionary Iran(and Austria). It was an educational(not in a boring, overbearing way, though) movie, showing you a different side of Iran than you've probably been exposed to. It was interesting when it focused on Iranian politics, but that changed somewhat when the focus shifted to Satrapi's personal life(personally I couldn't have given less of a shit that she's fallen for a gay bloke*, for example).

No Country For Old Men (Geezers)

This was my second time around seeing this film. Before I didn't really like it possibly because I was half asleep and also because this film went over my head. The second time around I paid more attention and was able to grasp the basic themes of principles in people who kill others and choices--the bad choices people make and how it effects them and those around them. I still don't quite comprehend the final bit of dialogue by the Sheriff, played by Tommy Lee Jones, but all in all I thought it was a great film. The acting was superb especially by the man who played the main antagonist, Anton Chigurgh. The person who played the main character, Llewellyn's wife was very annoying though. The only forewarning I can give for this movie is to mute all of her parts and put on subtitles.

The film was actually pretty straightforward to me. It was about his ambition and how he wanted nothing more to use money as an escape from people he saw as unfit. He's essentially a cynic.

Pitch Black - Vin Diesel (Riddick Trilogy) ..impressive, atmospheric sci-fi. Always liked vin diesel.

HITMAN (2007) ..nice, stylistic action sequences. Hitman didn't have a name only a number-barcode, so he was rather robotic by nature, basically raised to survive and HIT. Thus, the romantic scenes were quite interesting, instead of simply talking his way out of his discomfort, he gave her a quick needle shot to the neck without a word, and went about his business as she slept.

THE PUNISHER (2004) 5/5 (fellow piscean Thomas Jane is Frank Castle) ..this one has a similar "revenge" theme as Hitman, only with much much more heart & sympathy for the character and his reason for doing the things he did.

"Those who do evil to others - the killers, the rapists, psychos, sadists - you will come to know me well. Frank Castle is dead. Call me... The Punisher." LOVED it!! ..awesome soundtrack too.

Btw, the fight scene with the *HUGE* Russian..LOL =)

Citizen Kane. About as overrated as I thought it'd be.(I'm going to avoid rating it, because giving Citizen Kane a lower score than Crank just seems wrong somehow).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
The good: I liked the British sex god character.
Boobs
The bad: I chuckled about three times, I think. It just wasn't very funny.

Ichi the Killer.
The good: Awesomely gratuitous violence. Completely insane main characters. Fairly insane minor characters.
The bad: Some of it didn't make that much sense to me. I wasn't especially bothered, though.

Conclusion: 8/10, loads of silly bloody fun.

Grizzly Man - I thought this was going to be a documentary about the manliest man in recent history, and man, I was happy to be wrong. What an absolutely fascinating(in the batshit insane sort of way) guy that Timothy Treadwell is.
8.5/10

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father - Interesting film, I guess. Long story short, a pretty decent guy is murdered buy his psychotic ex, who turns out to be pregnant, so one of the dead guy's friends decides to make a movie about him so his son would know who he was, but due to some extreme fuck-ups on the part of the Canadian court system, that woman managed to kill herself and murder her son. Very high on drama and emotional content.

The Big Lebowski, age 16 - 7/10.
The Big Lebowski, age 18 - 8/10.
The Big Lebowski, age 20 - 9/10. Man, I can't believe I thought it was overrated when I watched it at first.

Withnail and I - The best British comedy I've, I think. Very amusing with a great performance by the actor who played Withnail, and some very memorable lines("I mean to have you even if it must be burglary!").
8/10.

Death Race (2008) - Jason Statham (The Road Warrior meets Escape From NY)

Remake of the Roger Corman produced cult classic Death Race 2000, which starred Sly Stallone and the late David Carradine. Action scenes here are pretty intense, lethal and unforgiving, since badass inmates race to the death to have their one shot at freedom. Plenty of guns, armoured cars, crashes, explosions. Has somewhat of a video-game feel to it; cars passing over icons to collect special weapons which i thought was very cool. The tanker "Dreadnaught" had to be my favorite scene! Exceeded my expectations as far as pure action goes, and am not all THAT big on action flics anyway, so it has to be decent. The revenge plot angle (motivator) sort of reminded me of the even more impressive 'The Punisher' film, starring Thomas Jane, though without as much (plot) heart. Solid, entertaining, FUN..
