Just saw this gay-themed thriller a few days ago and it stuck with me. To conclude it's not for homophobes or the squeamish as it's extremely graphic in every sense, and the intentional shock-factor is there too, as the case seems to be with most European films these days. It's Hitchcock's Rear Window meets Verhoeven's The 4th Man, with a hint of Basic Instinct. (Lol, REAR Window 😄)
Anyway, def one of the best movies of 2013. Anyone seen it?
For one, it looks like something Polanski could have put together in his prime. It has that claustrophobic feel to it as the whole movie takes place at this secluded lake that serves as a cruising spot. In terms of style it's nothing new-- but dealing with male sexuality between males certainly feels like a fresh breeze through an old genre.
