Would it be weird...

To ask someone to play with their dog?

One of my neighbors has a super adorable Aussie puppy and every time I stop to pet her I feel bad because the guy is tryna train her to be calm and she gets all excited when I come up. So instead of being a regular nuisance for the guy while he trains her I'm thinking of just asking to have a play date with her where she can be excited and run free. Or would that be weird? How would one ask such a thing?

Perfectly fine. I would not have an issue with your request.

Would I just be like "Hey can I play with your dog some time? Here's my number. Text me when I can come over".

UPDATE: I invited myself over today when I ran into him while walking my own dog. I was only there for 30 minutes until his friend came over, then I was like ✌?

I told him I'll be back next Tuesday.

It's just weird because I don't know what to talk about with the guy. There were lulls in our conversation but we were sort of able to bring something up.

Also, I didn't realize how much some dog toys look like dildos ??

how about you just offer to babysit if he needs to go away without the dog - puppies can't hold their stuff too long so he'll need someone to care for the dog - then say well if you don't go often how about a play date to bond just in case you ever do need someone to care for the dog

Most of the time I am more interested in the dogs than their actual owners but people are presumptuous shits

"I'm not hitting on you just look at your aesthetics I just want to know what breed that dog is and if you will sell him to me"

I'm tryna get into the owner so maybe we can date and I can get my life together. Maybe it's my time to grow up ?
