My dog used to be that way and she'd even hold it when we were on walks because she caught on that after she went to the bathroom I'd walk her ass back home

The dog has been conditioned to go while on walks, not in the backyard. Can't get shitty about it when the poor thing has been trained to do this.
Just leave her out there, she'll eventually go. And when she does, praise her and give her positive reinforcement so she knows it's okay to go in the yard.
Super stoked you used that word. I thought it was just me. I used to walk dogs in nyc and the rich snotty dogs wouldn't go. And it sucked.
