We have barn cats who come out for meals everyday, and this morning it was pouring down rain, so no cats were out to eat. Well, one of them I know had kittens recently because she got skinny, and is always starving.

So, I go to the back porch to call for kittys to come eat, since the porch has a roof and laying on my porch is two tiny wet kittens .. don't even have their eyes open yet. No momma anywhere around.

Of course, I scoop them up with a towel to get them warm and start calling for the momma. Then I hear this small squeeking noise and I see that another kitten has gotten washed out from I guess the nest and it's drenched laying in a puddle ... crying. It wasn't there before, so I know it just got there.

My heart broke, I thought it was going to drown.

So, then I have 3 kittens in my towel ... and no momma. They are now in a basket on the back porch waiting to be rescued ... so looks like my day is going to be spent with baited breath ... looking out of the window.

because there are all kinds of Toms here, and I would be literally crushed if one of them came to kill the kittens.

Afterall, she has to the one who put them on the porch ... so she has to know they are there. I don't know why she isn't coming.

Maybe she is looking for the 3rd one that I found in the puddle?

idk

Do you know if she's a first time mommy? Instinct or not, they don't always know what to do the first time around.

One of our cats a while back had kittens and she went a little like neurotic. She would put the kittens in strange places too. I would watch to make sure if she ever comes back too. I dont think its right to leave them out like that either they are tiny! People are so weird. Of course id wait to see im mom comes back but if not, got 3 new kittens! 🙂

The logical thing to do is to just take them to the vet and get'em euthanized

Yeah thats just fucked up. Should bring you to a doctor and have you castrated.

so you rather have them roam the streets and get ran over? I saw a limping kitten the other day in the street and thought "see, if people listened to bob barker then we wouldnt have this fuckin problem"

Apparently, she was waiting me out. Maybe she could see me with my face at the window?

Anyway, I went to the bathroom and when I came back she had one of them outside of the basket, giving it a bath. Probably getting my scent off of it.

She took one, and has been gone a while ... I'm assuming she'll be back to get the other two.

What a heart warming story. Do you know how many kittens she had and where her nest is?
How is she eating?

When I was a little girl our cat were always having kittens and my sisters and I would take care of them.

YOU CAN FEED THEM MILK WITH AN EYE DROPER GAT HOLD OF YOUR VET ASK HIM WHAT VITAMENS TO PUT IN THE MILK THEY CAN MAKE IT IF YOU PUT TIME INTO IT BUT A LOT OF WORK OF COURSE YOU BEING THE RAT MIGHT NOT WORK OUT FOR TO WELL WHEN THEY GROW UP.
GOOD LUCK HOPE THEY MAKE IT FOR REAL.

When I was little two or more kitten were born in our little backyard because it was very cold and cat mom had their kittens in a hole in the cosy brick wall my dad built.

We feed them milk, but they dint lost their wildness, when was warmer cat mom grabed them one by one and all were gone in no time.

She came back for the other two, one at a time of course .... no, she's had lots of litters. I'm not sure why she dropped them off on the porch. We were having a torrential storm, so, I guess she decided on the porch was better.

She must have found a good place for them, because I haven't seem them since. However, when they get old enough, she'll bring them out for feedings and then they'll be one of the bunch of cats.

This happened to our family cat also, she basically rejected her litter. She'd keep them deep underneath the floorboards and refused to feed them or be near them. When we got the kittens out, they were in a bit of a state; we cared for them as best as we can some made it and some died.
