Has this happened to an area near you?

So, basically all around the US, whenever there is high crime, petty theft and a combination of homelessness, stores decide to lock up essential items to keep them from being stolen. I don't know that it's that effective because it hurts the people wanting to buy those things and hurts those who don't steal at all.

Walmarts will shut down their stores in high crime areas and neighborhoods just for this alone. In that same vein, are we being fair to the homeless because they shouldn't have to steal in a "rich" country. Or.. what do you think? I've noticed in the bigger cities, police don't do much about petty crimes. And, I hate for one city to just copy the other that has the exact same problem, lock everything up and get police force out of the streets. Doesn't seem like a good way to go about things.

I live in a small -ish city compared to huge ones like los Angeles or San Francisco.. so, I would hate to adopt the policies of those areas.but then again, because the population is so huge, the crime itself is tenfold... Thoughts?

They should have locked up the toilet paper in 2020.

I don't see anything wrong with them locking up stuff if they have problems with thieves. I have a small business and people have stolen stuff from us. It's loss revenue cause you have to then spend more money to replace it.

It doesn't hurt the consumer trying to get the products, it's called getting an employee to get it for you so you can buy it.

It’s everywhere I live, but I live in a dangerous and crime ridden city. The locking up items isn’t the issue, it’s trying to got an employee to unlock the case, can take 20 or more mins because they don’t give a fuck. And the employees are the biggest thieves themselves too. Shit they’re locking up isn’t even nice or expensive, particularly. Just one of the many side effects of living somewhere with low cost of living.

I bought a suitcase and didn't realize it only had two wheels. Went back in with the suitcase looking for a four-wheeler. Didn't see one and was walking back out with my two-wheeler. A customer walking in says to me, but not to me, "oh, you just going to walk it right on out." I had no idea what he was talking about until I got back to me car. Then, it dawned on me that people must be walking stuff out of stores. Then, I became angry at the blazen comment of the shopper that thought I was stealing. How presumptious. Who puts a suitcase in a shopping cart - nosey dummy.

So in USA they passed a law that allows to steal. That is for a reason. They simply have no more jails left for this type of crime. In USA 1% ran away with 20% more wealth than the rest since the 90s, and they got like 5 times richer since COVID. They had to make a law where teens are allowed to steal, otherwise living would be unbearable in USA and they would have a revolt.

The rich and their scumbag bought politicians explain this as "captialism", but Adam Smith, who I don't like very much for his errors, says very clearly in the book when the rich run away with money you don't have capitalism and the system is not working at all.

Next will be universal income. You get paid regardless if you work or not. Very feudalistic approach to living, where you are simply not needed. This started in the 90's, but technically in 1972, but back then no one knew how to exploit it. Last decade or 2 so, they figured it out, and seized all assets. They printed money into 7 corporations that drove the markets, and made people blind. You will always be a slave if someone else issues currency for you. Imagine you had a printer in your house and you would buy everything else with the paper coming out of that printer. It's a simple game. Has been talked about since Babylon.

If you are not immune to mass psychosis this planet (especially the Western part) is a misery to live if you think about it. There is a huge race right now under the umbrella of AI. Some believe they will be able to download human mind into a PC in 30 years and eliminate humans.
