i've seen some libra suns with scorpio venus, they really cannot let go of their desired individual.
they are just as obsessed and dedicated, and if he's jealous and controlling maybe there's alot of truth of his not being able to control himself.
also seen virgo sun with scorpio venus, but that's my father in law.
he's got scorpio mars too.
he wants to be the "man" in the relationship, meaning no equality i notice.

You may want to give your placements for both of you as well. The Venus square Mars can create a challenging (though not negative) aspect. One of you may be far more aggressive in yur pursuit than the other.
