I hate Valentines Day

me too. So stupid. :/

It's only bad if that's the only time you do special stuff. I don't like how commercialized it is but I like the "spirit" of it. I'll take any chance to make my partner feel special and loved.

^^ Yeah, this is the first V-day in a long time I haven't looked forward to.

So many love struck couples, so few things to throw at them... =/

I like Valentines Day for what it represents, but I can honestly say most have been rather uneventful. Except for elementary school. 😉 And those chalk hearts are disgusting.

I need to pass out some of these this year...

I need to find me a bitter/jaded friend so we can go out and be miserable together 🙂

I have never seen them at a store. I made them with a ultra fine sharpie before just to laugh at them. I found this pic on flickr and the person there said she made them but I don't recall what with.

Your best bet to try and buy them would be Spencers (they have all the funny/mean stuff)... if you can't find them online somewhere.

It sure would. I love getting a reaction out of people. I used to go out with friends and just be crazy to see what people did. It's amazing. I've always joked that I would be the worst rich person because I would still be white trash haha.

Nah doesn't bother me that much, all a bunch of crap if you ask me. Even when I've been in relationships I've never "celebrated" it or done anything special. It's just another day.

As for getting kicked out of a restaurant/and other ubberly crack things-to-do? you would really need some company who would actually enjoyyy such crazy things, do something to escalate the craziness instead of trying to ground the kid within us (god, i miss being silly and myself - the crowd i move around these days is a pretty serious one).

I miss my old friends as well we used to go out all the time and do silly stuff. Next time you go to a Chinese restaurant ask if they have Cream of Sum Yun Gai... (say it out loud and fast if you don't get it). A few friends and I had this waiter asking around in the back for it. He had no clue what we were talking about. He was trying to figure out what it was. I said it's a white kind of thick sauce and told him I thought he'd like it. My friend busted out laughing at the last piece and messed up the joke.

See now, that could be amusing Sultanaa, a glass of wine, some food pens, candies, etc. The anti-Valentines gathering. Gift bags for one and all. 😄

Seriously though, I am all for anyone getting their romance on during Valentines Day, but to me it's something that should be expressed in little things you do 24/7, 365. And I'm an odd duck. I was presented with flowers once, and I'd have much rather had something to plant outdoors. Really ladies, something in a vase that will wither, or something with roots that go deep and you can admire year after year?

You are not alone. I like to call this day "February Fools Day", "Cheaters Redemption Day" or my fave....."I Tolerate You Day".

But to those who's hearts are satisfied.....its a great day.
I used to believe in the magic of Valentine's Day , shit, I used to celebrate Valentine's Year, never mind day.

But then, one wakes up....and realizes, it was all in our minds.
So we will look at the cut-out hearts and roll our eyes and think "that used to mean something to me, something that I was sure Id feel again by now and maybe I would, if only things would have been done differently in the end."
But have hope....someday we will find meaning in it again, its just going to take a little longer, thats all.

Don't let it get you down man. The past still means something to me, it was good times and good memories. It does suck to be single this time of year, all these Holidays back to back. This will be my first V-day single since... well since I started dating in middle school I think. I'm going to do something special for me that day. Not sure what yet but it'll be a "I love me" day... (get your minds out of the gutter... freaks!)

That's a good idea actually. I think a single rose, a mint on my pillow, nice dinner by candle light. Yehhhh.

the best thing i remember about valentines day before its meaning was destroyed and shitted on by my ex leo,

my dad used to buy me and my sister a gift every valentines day. i absolutely loved that.

Valentines Day is really kind of dumb though. I don't understand why there is a day dedicated to expression of love.
If you love someone you really should be expressing that to them more often than once a year...

I personally believe that this day is not a day to express love because as you said I too believe that one should his/her love whenever it is wanted and needed.

I believe this day is simply a day to appreciate that such an amazing feeling exists in this world.

No need to act like a lady when you're goofing off with friends. That's the time to just let loose.

We had a lot of fun being fools back in the day. I got kicked out of a sporting goods store years ago because me and some friends started playing hockey in the isles. There was barely anyone in the store and all we had for a puck was a plastic soda bottle, but we had a blast... for about 15 minutes.

I've told this story before somewhere on here but its that same group of friends where one pretended to be my "man servant" at a restaurant. I made him sit on the floor next to the table and ordered for him. We made the waitress leave his plate on the table. He was the slave as wasn't good enough to sit at the table with us, haha.

I hate people who hate Valentines Day!

I don't care how commercialized it is and blah blah blah.

I love coming up with creative gift ideas (because I'm just the fucking best at it) and I love the feeling it brings about, gifts/dates and all.

I've never had one to love, so it's just another day for me...

sometimes there's a little hope but mostly not 😢
