Yes, what he wrote was terrible, sexist and very unfair in my opinion. However, it was his opinion, but you know what they say -- opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

I don't always say things that people like but I try to at least be tactlful and thoughtful ... its hard, being half saggie haha

However, as someone who has an opinion on what he wrote, I would say that it is enough to generate negativity. Its very generalizing without even having a bases.

Back when he was Teddy Bear or something like that lol, he and I clash alot on men and women issues, so I'm use to his words not being the best.

But hey, like I said, that's all his opinion and I do give credit that he had the guts to be unpopular and put his opinion out there. However, he didn't have to be so brash and so freaking generalizing oh my god.

OH I KNOW. The perfect solution, this should calm things down.

Someone should make a list of things that represent the opposite of what Mr. Bear was talking about. Like his was opinions from a guys point of view concerning the women.

Well, I think theres enough woman on the thread to create a list from a woman's point-of-view concerning the guys and all of their pitfalls and all the things that make them 'not so desirable'.

Hey, to me, that will make things even ^_^.

USC you need to come down here so you me, and VH can all hang out! 🙂 We can hit up a sports bar, eat hot wings and talk crap! HAHAHAHA!

Word! I have a very full travel plate right now starting September - November (Las Vegas, D.C., NYC, New Orleans,) so I'll have to see if I'll have any time AND $ left. My peeps in LaLa are definitely feeling like I am dissing them, because I haven't been out in a few months - lol.

I want to come outto L.A. for an 'SC game, but I just have to see; although I'll be in Phoenix for the USC vs. ASU game in November.

Anyway, you are right, we would have a lot of fun talking football crap...plus, I would love to meet VH, because he's becoming legendary on these here boards! LMAO! VH doesn't watch college football though 😢

natural25 I'm gonna PM you.

Wow, you have a lot of traveling on your plate! I was just in NYC last year and in the NO during July 4th weekend for the Essence Fest. It was hot, sticky and humid. But the food was delish! Yes, PM me. 🙂

I don't like New Orleans EXCEPT for the food, and I defninitely WOULDN'T be there in the summer, unless it was business related. I am NOT a Southern person, at all. I'm definitely a West Coast person 🙂. I've lived on the East Coast for a few years, and it was cool. I liked it, but it's not where I would want to live forever. I eventually want to move back to Cali...I will when the time is right and I have some other things more in order!

I'm told it can get rather muggy during the summer season though I do want to check it out. One of my instructors from a years back was sent out there with a Search and Rescue team when Katrina hit. He brought back 923847598345 pictures so would love to see first hand how things have changed since then.

Speaking of the food, we actually have a BUNCH of crawfish places that have opened up here in So. Cal (More so OC, not so sure about LA though). Put on the bibs, throw down some beers, and dig in with your hands. When all is said and done, you know you and your friends did good when you leave the table with crawfish, shrimp, and crab shell carnage along side with empty bottles (And a good tip of course!). Check it out next time you're in town and have the 'N'awlins' food craving.

The food was out of this world! My people are from Baton Rouge. So, i am used to the food. I think that is how I gained my 6 lbs! I ate so much! The beignets, the crawfish, fried chicken. OMG!

Yea, I am not a southern girl either. I am more of a West Coast girl as well. I loved NY but it was a little dirty.

OMG you guys!! OMG!!! UPDATE!!! So I dated a Pices for like 6 years off and on. We were in love all that stuff. Well, we grew up and a part and broke up but still remianed in contact. My friends and I have always had a running joke that he is the type who will never get married. Well, the joke is on ME! He IS married. Him and I spoke a lot during the begining on 2009. He was dating a Latino at the time. I have not spoken with him in like 5 months. Then a month ago he sent me Facebook message and asked to be my friend...telling me how good I looked, etc. Well, today I am bored to tears at work and decided to do some innocent Facebook snooping. Lol. I looked at his pics. There it was!! A ring - LEFT hand FOURTH finger. He married the Latina.

Oooohh woe is me!!! I cant beleive this.

Hahaha okay okay
I've done the circuit on a bunch of these joints and the one I recommend is...
Rockin Crawfish

My circle of friends has completely varied ethnicities and this is the one where EVERYONE feels welcome and comfortable at. From where you father lives, its about 10 mins on the 405N, get off and you're there in another 5-10 mins. It's in a VERY ASIAN strip mall but don't let that deter you. Once inside, you may get greeted by some Bob Marley coming over the speakers. Adorned on the walls, you'll see pictures of Zeppelin, Jack and Meg from the White Stripes, electric guitars, and of course.. Cheezy Seafaring kitch placed perfectly 😛 (Nets, plastic lobster decorations, etc)

Sample
(Warning: You'll open this up and either say "That looks GOOD" or "That looks FREAKY" hah)

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly and easily Black men talk poorly about Black women as a whole. As though EVERY black women acts the exact same. There are bitches in every ethnicity. Being a bitch is not something that is exclusive to Black women, just like knocking women up and leaving them to raise the kid by themselves or being triffling and not working or gang affiliation/membership or being locked up is exclusive to Black men. To suggest otherwise indicates a high level of ignorance.

So, your Pisces is married now, but he was still all compliments and flattering to you...interesting hunh—?!!!!! It's always that way! That whole adage, "when you break up they marry immediately" is sooo true! My friends and I have all had (at some point) dated or been engaged to someone who immediately got married after we broke up! Carazzzzyyyyyyy!

Yes crazy and annoying. Lol. Of course, I will not "hate" on his happiness. I wish him the best of luck! Lol. But I will point out that his facebook status does not indicate "married". Whats up with that!??! Lol.

Word! I have nothing against any Black men, they can date and do whomever they so chose, and guess what? So do I! I said about 7 -10 pages ago in this thread or some other (I'm getting confused now!) That you don't need to denigrate others for who you chose to date in your life! Be a man/woman about it and do the damn thing without making excuses and crap! It's oh, so annoying!

I completely AGREE with you. Hey if a Black man wants to date a women who is plaid (like Ms. P said, lol) fine handle your business. BUT why do Black men feel the need to belittle and berate Black women in the process. Just say hey this is who I choose or who I choose not to be with. It is my decision. Or at least, let it be known that you are basing your opinion of Black women off YOUR PERSONAL experience. Which is a diminutive fraction of ALL the Black women in this world. I have stated to BigD that I was speaking about Black men based on my experiences, but I also made it a point to stress that my perspective comes from a very limited group of Black men. I would sound like a fool speaking for ALL Black men! Similar, to how Black men sound like fools speaking for ALL Black women. So sad. **SMH**

Within this thread, you painted a picture, along with others, to infer that something is wrong with black men as a whole, as if they are all the same ... and this painting was done in very poor light.

Simply because you claim within this one particular post that you didn't mean it to be exclusively about black men, doesn't make it the truth ... when the OP clearly states this is about "black", as well as 22 pages of shadow you all put the black man in.

did you say the word ignorance? do you know what that word means?

You used it as an insult ... but, do you actually know what it means?

Because someone told you a truth that you couldn't handle ... and this person who told you the truth ... it came after you insinuated he was a piece of shit for being a black man.

As I stated above, I clarified when responding to BIGD that OF COURSE I was not referring to ALL Black men. If that were the case I would be calling my own father triffling.

"Big - I stated in my post that I WANT children. My point is that I cannot control if I get married, etc, but I can control if I have children. I WANT children. So, I will allow my relationship status or lack there of to stop this from coming into fruition.

Of course, we are not speaking for ALL Black men. we are speaking with regards to OUR experiences with our Black friends and the Black men who WE know. Not you. Of course, there are exceptions to this, as there is with everything. we are merely speaking based on what we have experienced.

Yes, love should see no color. Unfortunately, in some cases it does. This is a fact of life. I am not saying that this is right, but it's truth. If you do not believe that there is a breakdown in the Black community between men and women, I encourage you to

Contd??_..

Yes, I am well aware of what ignorant means. The Webster dictionary defines ignorance as; —: the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness??. And that is exactly what I meant. I feel that when Black men berate Black woman to justify who they date, it is due to a lack of awareness/knowledge. But I am glad you called me on it. That is putting it way too nicely. It is an act of stupidity. Does that sound better? Btw, I am not trying to insult Summer or anyone else. I am simply stating my opinion.

And so did he state his opinion ... and opinion you came in here and asked for, I might add.

If you are going to insult the black man, across the board ... then you better be prepared to take what you hand out. He, as well as other black men who responded to this, Natural, were speaking from their own personal experience.

Which is exactly what you asked for in an open forum .. if you can't handle this, then I would suggest you delete your account and leave.

It may be that you weren't intentionally trying to insult anybody .... but, the whole point of this thread is to infer that something is the matter with black men, for the fact that they don't want a black woman.

The motivation in stating that is for the sole reason of making yourself feel victimized because the black man has an unjustified issue that is nonesense.

This is the impression you made in this thread .... on page 3 or 4, a black woman even came in here and made mention of how you have just made the black woman a victim of the black man.

You and other black women carry on in here for pages, wagging your heads with attitude .... then when a black man comes in and states his opinion .. you "act" in the exact manner in which is the reason WHY a black man doesn't want to date a black woman.

You proved the very point .... for you asked for his (black man) opinion, and then berated him for giving one that was honest from his personal experience.

Thanks DYR for sharing this information. Great commentary on this topic.

"Black women are socialized to stick by their men," explained Kellina Craig-Henderson, a Howard University psychology professor who studied 15 black women dating interracially. She said modern black women agonize over breaking male-female bonds forged in slavery and strengthened through the Jim Crow era."

This is what I was referring to earlier. Many black women are rasised/socialized to wait for that good Black man to come and sweep them off of their feet.

"Halle Berry's remarks have stirred up the hornet's nest, with some black folks labeling her the ever popular term "sell out", for having gone over to the white side. Never mind that Halle is also mixed, just as white as she is black. To some, Halle Berry is a traitor. "

This is funny to me. I have never thought of Halle Berry as a traitor. Everyone knows about the hell she went through with her exes. Lol. i am glad that she found love and happiness, regardless of who it is with.

""While the black woman could be violated at will, the white woman's comfort was protected with the ultimate price. In this case, the death penalty was not law but habit as the casual killing of black men became sport. This environment helped to greatly increase any interest the black man may have had in the white woman. If the black man had no innate interest in the white woman, he certainly would have developed some just out of curiosity. Anyone would be intrigued by what was being protected. A Ph.D. in human anatomy and genetics would find interest in a white woman if he was denied access to her. Just being denied the ability to even look at someone would create an interest, and over the years an obsession would develop -- a phenomenon that is still evident in many black men."

I love this! This is why it boogles my mind when people suggest that the only reason a Black man does not date Black women is b/c Black women do not perform oral sex or other ridiculous notions such as that. It is so much deeper than a blow job. It is a result of self hatred that has been steeped into the Black community. It is not about doing it doggy style or any other superficial issue like that.

But I must keep in mind that the only times that I have heard absurd reasoning like this is when it has come out of the mouths of either White people (no offense, but White people have no clue what it is like to be Black or have first hand knowledge of what goes on within the Black community from the perspective of a Black person, and vise versa) or someone who is Black but relatively young, and really does get the totality of the situation.

PA: "If you are going to insult the black man, across the board ... then you better be prepared to take what you hand out. He, as well as other black men who responded to this, Natural, were speaking from their own personal experience."

AGAIN, I clarified that I was speaking based on my personal experience and not speaking in general terms.

PA:"Which is exactly what you asked for in an open forum .. if you can't handle this, then I would suggest you delete your account and leave."

I have no problem with someone stating their opion ans stating "based on my experience this is what i feel..." (like I did). But I do have a problem with people making blanket statements about an entire gender/race. He never stated her this is only based on what I have experienced and I know that this is not true of all Black women. That is where my comment came from. About me deleting my account, PA it's not that serious, sweetie. This isan on liine forum. It will never be serious enough for me to delete my account and stomp away pouting. Maybe for you, but not for me.

Let me wrap this up. I am not a victim. I am not trying to play the victim's role. I simply stated my experience with regards to this situation. PA, this is something that is a very sensitive and complex issue for many Black woman. I do not expect for you to understand b/c you have really no idea (personally) really what me or any of the other Black women are referring to. There is no cut and dry answer or solution. But trust me when I tell you there is a clear line of dissention within the Black community between Black men and women and it is problematic. Ditremental, no. Problematic, yes. You do not understand the severity of the situation, because you do not live it.

I agree.

No, I don't know what it's like to be black, but I still think my Status argument makes sense...

1. A Black Man can increase his status by marrying a white woman - not always, but enough to make it worth his while. The odds are in his favor.

2. An average-looking White Man can usually get a better-looking non-white woman than he could a white woman. If she's a real knock-out, it will help his status to marry a non-white woman.

3. Successful people can afford to be color-blind - they've established their social status already.

Yes, your status argument makes plenty of sense. I agree that status does play a role in this issue. What I do not agree with is when other posters have tried to make the issue as simple as oral sex, or attitudes or some other ridiculous madness. Dyr, you have suggested logical theories and backed it up with your own personal experience as well as facts. I cant help but to respect that! 🙂

I just have a difficulty reading people's comments who really have no idea what Black women or men experience and talk out of their ass. Lol.

My posts today have absolutely nothing to do with the struggles of a being a black woman in today's society and you know it .... when I pointed out to you your ignorance, you pretend as though my words were about the struggles of the black woman and look how I don't understand, so how could I possibly know any better?

When my words to you were about how black men came in here and made their opinions, based purely off of their own life experiences .. because a persons own life experiences are the only measurements they even have to base this opinion and when they offered an opinion in which you didn't agree ..... you coped an attitude ... which is the very attitude in which the black man states he doesn't like in the black woman.

You don't really want to hear what a black man has to say to this .... you only want to bitch about the injustice of it .... because if you did want to hear an honest answer from the black man as to how he feels about it .. then you would have accepted his opinion without your attitude.

You are talking about black men .... across the board, natural ...... as a whole.

And if another person does the same about black women, and you don't like what they are saying ..... you act like a black woman with attitude.

You actually belittle the black woman.

And even in your supporters, the same ignorance is present .... for example ... this is said out of retaliation soley, as a defense without any awareness of what is actually being said ........

" ... that you were talking about ALL black men. In my book, it goes without saying which is why you did not take the time to say "I do not mean ALL black men."

..... because it then turns around and commits the exact thing in which I'm pointing out to you as being a hypocrisy .....

"Anywho, I've heard that out in California alot of black men actually prefer to date women who are not black ...."

..... because it is talking about black men, in general terms .. not specifically .. which means it is inferring ALL black men.

What idiocy, to be honest.

Of course .... because an observer standing on the outside looking in on a person who is emotionally slanted is never more unbiased as the one living it.

Don't be a fool, Natural ... just because I am white doesn't mean I have never experienced black people ....... my husband of 27 years could be a black man for all you know.

I NEVER once said that you have not experienced Black people before. Lol. I said that you have not experienced this issue as a Black woman. Please corect me if I am worng. Just like I have not experienced dating or any other issues as a White, Asian, Latina, etc. If you were to tell me something specific to your ethnicity (experiences) I would not claim to be the expert or know exactly what you feel or have experienced. I might have expeirenced something similar or I might be able to empathsize, but I would know first what you are experiencing.

You are right. I do not know who you are married to. You very well maybe married to a Black man, but that still would not make you a Black woman, nor would it give you first hand experience of being a Black woman in this situation.

PA: I am not going to continue to go back anf forth with you about this. I did not create the thread to argue, I created it to have a productive conversation. Yes, this is a very personal and sensitive issue. I am very concerned with the "woes" of the Black community. Hence, what I have centred my career around. I am out here in the trenches everyday working with the very young Black men who I speak about. I did not create this thread to bitch and moan. Turth is I love my people! I love my Black sister AND brother. it hurts me to see the way the community is today. I do not want to have an online argument about something that is so perosnal and dear to me. Like I said, conversation great. But i am not up for arguing.

i do not take back anything that I have said. I stand firm by what i have stated. you can twist and pick my words apart if you wish. Have at it. I am not up for it. I should not have to explain or justify myself for the way that I feel. Just like a Black man should not have to justify why he dates outside of his ethninicty.

"You are right. I do not know who you are married to. You very well maybe married to a Black man, but that still would not make you a Black woman, nor would it give you first hand experience of being a Black woman in this situation."

Again, you pretend as though my whole point in posting on this topic today is about the struggle of the black woman today and how I don't understand ..... when you know full well that my point has nothing to do with being a black woman.

The more you pretend as though this is my point .. the more ignorant you make yourself sound, Natural.

Black men have come in here to voice the very opinions in which you asked for ...... and because you didn't like what they had to say, you coped an attitude to infer that they don't know what they are talking about ... when they are actually black men, who have life-experiences dealing with black women on an intimate level.

That ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ speaks NOTHING of my own personal opinions about the struggles of black women ..... so, why do you continue to fiegn ignorance on this?
