Often the distance is there briefly because they give me space vs fear of speaking up and addressing the problem. Being easily "triggered" may have nothing to do with her moon. Not to mention what you consider a joke may not be shared. Doesnt mean the person can't handle a joke, they just don't share your brand of humour. As well, "light" and insult don't connect for me. An insult is and insult. "Light" or otherwise. Perhaps that is the issue, the fact that you can't see that.
Anyway, run her chart. That will direct you towards her moon. It may not be exact if you don't know her time of birth, but if the moon didn't change on that day, you're good.

They tend to come off more like bleeding hearts and are quick to anger because you "don't get it".
Not like fire moons that are quick to react, which often gets confused as anger.

Then you're okay. Sounds like some territory issues are at play, so neither will back down. You share the same Mars, so you know exactly what buttons to push, when to push them, but also know not to take it too far, so a level of respect is maintained. It just square energy that's causing you to bump head. You may need to accept this will be the nature of your relationship, which isn't horrible---unless you make it so. Scorps are okay with certain relationships not being all unicorns and rainbows and simply respect the boundaries of that. Unless she a brat.
I have a challenging time with Leo in Merc and Moon moreso than Sun, Mars or Venus. Even when the Merc and Moon is embedded deep in a watery chart. Can't see where your Merc is, but if it's in Leo, I would guess that may be a large part of the issue given her specs.
