I'm good. A bit stressed and moody, but I'm powering through 😄

Ran into the ex Scorp at a party last week and I'll be damned if I didn't sense him hovering.. Actually I've felt him hovering for awhile now, but running into him in person just solidified the feeling. Oh well. No time like the present to stop looking back when I'm trying to go forward 🙂

Ice him out. Every time.

It was the venus retro I swear!!!

My bestie was talking about last week being 'coincidence week' all these things/ meetings that she had thought or dreamt about then kept happening- astro projection-type bollocks... And wouldn't you know it, my ex Leo got in touch too, with the "I just want to be friends, I know I stuffed up but I think you are amazing" claptrap

Hugs though! It's always a kick in the kidneys when you see the old ex...

Is that what you are stressed/ moody about?

Nah. It may be a contributing factor, but it's not the main one. I don't think there's a definite cause for my moodiness. Except maybe hormones... My body just decided it's time for a bit of a sulk 😛

Is she a Scorp? I was watching a vid last month and it was suggested that several Scorps would experience this, but it didn't have anything to do with the Venus Rx. (you can skip to 6:00)

ugh! Bloody aries and leo men... I am not surprised- your wife seems like a sensible gal...I'm trying to avoid those two myself 😉

Ok... So- Chch earthquake(s) and they're finally getting round to settling my house claim and I have 2 options:

A. stay within a slow, bureaucratic nightmare of the government repair scheme with the proviso that they have to fix anything hidden that they find that isn't currently on the scope of works and am unable to make any off-scope alterations during the repair or

B. opt to project manage all trades, foundations, builders, tilers, plasterers, painters, roofers etc... and budget the $ 140- $ 160K allowance myself and make any major alterations within the programme.

Talk about a no win situation.

This is big time adult stuffs

Tell me about it... yesterday I had all my house crap suddenly start up again- I hadn't heard from the earthquake commission for over a year and I am hopeless at making decisions?!

Then I found out a mate I used to go to ridiculous house parties with back in the day died of a sudden heart attack.
He was only 40 and has 1yo twins... 😭
Words can't even describe what a great guy he was. Just can't believe that he's gone...

The combination of the two are definitely a reminder that you have to get on and make things happen while you can! No second chances I guess.

Head is spinning!

I noted that after 2 posts in one of his threads and I was done. I use to think she was smart by "icing" him out, but if they got together, clearly she likes a bit of drama with her morning coffee. I notice that with younger female Scorps. Someone (on a thread somewhere) suggested we like drama because it allows us to "feel". The comment made me think about my younger days.

When I was younger I use to flirt with drama, but I don't think it was to help me "feel". I guess I thought it was the only way one should feel if that makes any sense.

you knit?! respect. i have no patience for that kind of stuff at all. 😄
yes. i remember, there was a similar murder that occured at or about the same time. hhmmmm.

you know that quote...

"lizzie borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks, when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41"

k. keep me updated on your POV. i'm always interested.

Okay a little delayed, but here goes...

Well, one of the things I find interesting is how much has changed within the justice system. One could argue that because of the "lack" of evidence the verdict was correct. A lot of criminals have been acquitted for similar reasons. In the case of Borden though the suggestion that "the case against Lizzie was hampered by the inability of the investigators to produce a corroborated demonstration of time and opportunity for the murders" and "no clear and convincing motive" is quite weak because it is clearly based on the premise that a woman could not be capable of such a heinous crime.

I say this because for one, she was the only one in the home. Yes, she claims to be outside in the shed to retrieve metal and fishing sinkers (which didn't even exist), but she was still on the grounds. Second, there is no evidence suggesting that the killings were motivated by robbery or an enemy so to suggest that it was some random stranger-—well, it's a stretch, but possible I suppose.

From what I read, there was evidence and a suggested motive, but much of this evidence was all found inadmissible, which left it up to the jury to use the evidence available (which was very little). I think this left room for personal bias to creep in.

Finally, I believe Knowlton (Prosecution), Mullaly (Officer) made a huge mess of the investigation starting with the search of the weapon and the examination of the dress. I'm not sure why he made a point of letting her know he saw a stain on the dress or why they informed her that they wanted the dress for evidence. They should have just told her "destroy everything we can use against you". Perhaps they simply didn't think she would destroy the evidence.

Anyway, I think she did it. She was acquitted due to the limits of the legal and the justice system at the time.

BAHH!! I had originally typed "exotic fruit", but then revised in favor of the mango.. That's what I get for second guessing myself!!

And elle's bells - Virgos are pretty malleable and service oriented. As such, we can be into whatever you are. 😛 😈. (Including glittery *A* slaps on *V*Day, PR!... My resilient, beautiful little mythical songbird!)

Either way - mucho excited to have your twirlin' magnetic firey ass back around these parts.

omg i thought i was confused for a moment LOL. cause your post was above mine and then i saw it under mine.....pffffft 😛

LOL, no, it was totally me. I posted, then re-arranged to try and make more sense, and hid the first post.

BUT!!! Since you're here, Nem 🙂 I was going to recommend the book The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr for your crime library selections. It's a work of fiction, but it's historical fiction. It touches on the whole "women aren't evil and therefore cannot do evil things unless possessed" type of thinking that seems to have been prevalent at the turn of the century.

thank you for this great conclusion! 🙂 i see it very similar.

would you mind if i quote you and use this in the crime forum when i make a lizzie borden thread?

it was unthinkable in those days that a woman could commit any crime - let alone patricide. i too, think she did it - with the help of her sister. they planned this out. and it is my belief - that the motives behind this were a.) surpressed anger from early childhood combined with the sexual abuse and harsh discipline (which could explain the rage and "overkill" - 5 whacks would have done the job too i think) and b.) money.

Go ahead. I'm clearly not paying attention because I didn't see that thread. I would have posted my answer there. You really thought her sister helped her? She did lie for her regarding the dress, but I didn't think it went beyond that. My understanding is they stopped communicating after the trial. Hmmm, I will continue my thoughts in the other thread.

no, no - i'm planning on making a thread about lizzie borden - have not done it yet. i would really appreciate it if you did contribute in there when it's up. 🙂

MERCURY is a pain in the butt!!!! 😄

yes, i think her sister has a bigger role in this than what we know of. and i do also wonder about the maid - i think you mentioned that last time spoke about this case. she did get a nice sum paid out and retired back to ireland. hmmmm.

Oh okay, lol. Of course I'll contribute. I was wondering about the maid more so than her sister. It's interesting because in the biopic it was presented as though the maid was "let go" after she was questioned by the police because the thing she shared was a little damaging to Lizzie.
