I know that Scorpios are very self-sufficient, but I was curious about some thoughts Scorpio males had about independent, Cancer females. Cancers are known to be 'clingy,' gentle, shy, but what about a more extroverted cancer female?

It should be fine.
I think it's harder on the extroverted Cancer's part to accept Scorpio's stoical disposition and tendency to brood.
Extroverted Cancers can handle stoic and brooding, but they can't tolerate not showing up and being present. Non of that is an excuse to not pull your own weight in a relationship.
I haven't met a scorpio man who had a problem with my personality, other than by the end of the day they might reach for ear plugs. I talk A LOT.
