I didn't really connect with my Sag daughter until her personality became apparent...I've never been cootchy-coo with her. I always liked toddlers more than babies....but the hugging, the holding, the cuddling...that was all right up my alley.

There are many ways to be a mother...and many Scorp skills are perfect for mothering. You don't change your natural personality...you just go deeper into it, and the change is totally fulfilling. Children give you so much more than you give them...they give you the fullness of yourself.

You use your intuition (which explodes when you become a mum) to guess what this little child is thinking -- and then when your "guess" is right, you feel excited like you've solved a mystery. When you think you've figured out what your child's interests are, and you give them the blocks, the toy piano etc. and they dig it, you feel pleased with yourself.

There's always plenty of work with a child...which Scorps also enjoy.

As for children being confining, it's really only the first three years. You can spare three years. Then there's preschool, and playdates, and before you know it, you're working from home part-time. You don't have to go the full-time route...hardly anyone I know does...and I've found the balance between work and mommying to be quite rewarding.

Blingy,

I think you're right about girl Scorps being more sensitive than they let on. I never really knew how to handle my sensitivity...but I have found that the connection I have with my daughter has balanced that out for the first time in my life. My sensitivity towards myself has changed to being more sensitive towards others...and I feel great being a nurturer (most of the time LOL!).

Yeah, I'm tooting the motherhood horn, but I think relationships are crucial for most Scorps, and the experience of unconditional love that children give is a very good one for them.
