I'm actually studying to become an official interpreter. Looking to become state certified in Spanish

Then Japanese

Then German

Then possibly Italian

Most likely AMS
Japanese and German are hard.

Don't help if you speak 2 languages fluently.

German because of accent.

Japanese because of the way it's spoken in regard to customs.

Good for you- languages are awesome!

Theyre actually the easiest for me and it helps that I love the languages. I have been blessed with the natural ability to absorb and adapt to different ways of communication, nod to my Gemini moon.

People have the misconception that japenese is hard but it's actually the easiest language to learn. Easier than English and Spanish. The only hard part is memorizing the Kanji. Even the furigana (katakana and hiragana) are easy to memorize as they're syllaberies.

Germán is tricky but similar to English. The only trouble I have is with really long words and their grammar is similar but different to English.

My Sea-Goat was showing me one of his fav German movies the other day, and it was fun to hear similarities and be able to guess the meaning based on what I hear. That really is the Advantage to beong bilingual - not only the ears but the tongue opens up to other languages. Case in point: there are A LOT of similarities between Spanish and Arabic.

How you like stripes——?

And Carter- he had to suffer.

Stripes were and are bad ass. Carter made us suffer in the Babcock era, and then Babcock set our franchise back 5 years. So in the end everyone suffered for no reason.

It's specially useful of your partner doesn't speak it and he is doing crappy job - there you go girl!!!

And he will be back...because he thought you were yelling 'yes!more!how

Large!youbare the best' ...

So downside is you will have to explain him in Hebrew - he was awful and push him out the door so gently that he never find out why!

He will just think Spamish Jews are nuts! —?

Totally nutty

?? Ay!

Is it true Canadians say "ay!" often? Or is that an inaccurate stereotype?

Mi gatita se seca cada vez que miro tu cara
I was cracking up when I read this. Not because I thought it was funny but because I completely understood your words and I could only imagine someone trying to say it thinking its romantic. 😄

But I guess it could be depending on the partner. 😉

I'm not fluent in Spanish pero yo habla un poquito y comprende mas o menos.

Reading more on this thread made me realize I know more Spanish than I thought. I even caught some of the errors while reading other people's posts tambien.

That's the thing with language - if you don't use it, you lose it. When I begin to properly study Spanish, I will use it every single day at every chance I get. I'm not as concerned about writing as I am speaking, but I know my college has a very writing-heavy method of teaching.

So true! You don't use it you lose it. Thankfully I didn't lose all of it. Sadly people were discouraged from speaking Spanish in my area and my father and mother were even told not to teach me because it'll "confuse me" but my grandma was like pfft and spoke it to me and I watched Spanish speaking TV with her. Back then just one channel.

My parents used it as a way to communicate things to each other that they didn't want us to know. I'll never forget how pleasantly surprised they were when I understood a convo they had in Spanish. It's a long story as to why it wasn't able to stick. Kind of sad.

But contrary to what some believe about non Spanish speaking Hispanics I actually do love the language and would love to be fluent instead of just knowing enough to get by. It's a goal of mine.

Some adults underestimate the sponge-like abilities of children! My parents were also told to wait to immerse me in another language because I'd get confused. Luckily, they didn't listen! I knew very well the differences in the languages I was speaking. When I merged them, it was intentional because some things were better in English and other things not.

I LUFF that bit about how it was your parents secret way of communicating! That adds a whole other dimension to my belief that Spanish is the true language of love. ☺️ Spanish TV, eh? Why is it that all soap operas look...shiny?

I appreciate your final comment about loving your language. I will not lie - I have often wondered about non-Spanish speaking hispanics and their attitude toward their language.

Did you watch telenovelas? Don't let me be the only one.

Yes. Most of the storylines were the same though. Cinderella like storylines. I remember the last one I saw with my grandma before she passed away was a bit different. It was called Soñadoras. I liked it and Eduardo Verástegui was one sexy mofo.

This one brings back memories from ages ago that I remember watching with her.

It's moments like these I wished our technology has progressed enough for me to give an actual hug through the screen.

Thank you so much for sharing your story!

My bad, I didn't mean to bring you to a sombre moment. But I appreciate you for sharing 🙂

No worries, it's all good. Just miss her even after all these years. I'm her namesake and she's actually the one who introduced me to astrology. I still have her old wooden Aquarius plaque.

I know some little Spanish but I wouldn't risk to talk in bed in fear of ruin my partners mood or make him laugh lmao

I agree with this bimbo.

Non Spanish speakers trying to speak Spanish is either funny, cringe worthy, or both.

So doing it in the bedroom might make the moment cringey. I wouldn't want a guy who doesn't speak Spanish to throw Spanish words at me in bed. That's just, no.

Depende chica.

half of the people think I'm funny ..mostly because I'm trying to be funny.

The other half are genuinely astonished.

29 years of basically living in Mexico ( Los Angeles) has made my accent on point.

I've been asked if I was Cuban or Dominican.haha
