"Protesters in Seattle, Washington, declared an area that includes the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct as the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” after Seattle Police and the National Guard pulled out of the region. The Precinct building appears empty, Capitol Hill Seattle Blog reported, and now the six-block region has been declared “autonomous.”

The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone isn’t a legal region or recognized by any government. It’s an unofficial name given by protesters who have vowed to keep the area peaceful."

I also heard that local businesses are being forced to pay protection fees because to keep their businesses safe.

I dont know how true that is but I would really like to know who is at the bottom of that. It seems wrong.

Nature abhors a vacuum. The cops shut down the East precinct and left. What is unclear is were they ordered to do so or was it the decision of the precinct.

Something tells me this is going to get ugly.

There are reports that the zone already has a leader with his own private police force, and others in the zone asking for people to supply food.

Looooool

This is so fucking stupid & childish. The left is never gonna live this down 😄

Actually, here in the US, there is a good chance they'll pretend that it didn't happen and move on to the next scam.

We're going to see more dribble out....

https://www.city-journal.org/antifa-seattle-capitol-hill-autonomous-zone

"Then, in a stunning turn of events, the City of Seattle made the decision to abandon the East Precinct and surrender the neighborhood to the protesters. “This is an exercise in trust and de-escalation,” explained Chief Carmen Best. Officers and National Guardsmen emptied out the facility, boarded it up, and retreated. Immediately afterward, Black Lives Matter protesters, Antifa black shirts, and armed members of the hard-Left John Brown Gun Club seized control of the neighborhood, moved the barricades into a defensive position, and declared it the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone—even putting up a cardboard sign at the barricades declaring “you are now leaving the USA.”"

1) Protestors have had food including snacks., water, masks, etc ( i dont know who is donating, but it's very organized) plus local businesses are feeding them for free too - for 2 whole weeks now

2) I would take anythin DiseaseontheCusp says with a grain of salt.

No... just, no... plz don't make me tripple facepalm.

If you bothered to waste a few minutes of your precious time actually seeing what the clip is about and how the information you're fed is distorted, and by whom.

Kind of makes me wonder what else Trump didn't say.

lmao good lord

My mom (she's in Lynnwood) said you're all fine too.

Exactly. Those gun toting white supremacists are much more likely to snap and shoot people citing being afraid of "looters"

Chill dudes. No one is going to break into your trailer and steal your Girls Gone Wild VHS tapes and Nascar gear. No one wants that shit.

Are ya'll still proud to be 'Murican?

At the very least I can still own a gun, and in my specific state I can conceal it without any permit. So with that being said, yes I'm still proud to be an American. I know I can still murder a potential threat. Whether that be a cop, the government, a neighbor on meth, or a home invader of any type. Come to the country for a change. Burning a city is easy. Maneuver your way through a a single neighborhood where everyone is strapped, paranoid, and ready to shoot first and ask questions last then get back to me.

[FAQ] Most common questions about CHAZ answered by a resident.

This post is is an aggregate of the CHAZ AMA that was done earlier. Will try to edit and add to this as needed. Thanks.

Is CHAZ a fully-autonomous, self-sustaining, sovereign state? No. It’s simply an area within Capitol Hill, Seattle where people are protesting for BLM.

Who is CHAZ? It’s not a “who”. It’s just an area that people come to to protest.

Who organized CHAZ? Is there a leader? No one person or group organized CHAZ specifically. There is no formal “leader”. The best answer is CHAZ naturally came about after the Seattle Police Department (SPD) left the area after 10+ days of protesting for BLM occurred.

Who is Raz Simone? He's a local Seattle musician and community member who is an advocate for BLM. He also regularly livestreams from CHAZ.

Why are there barriers in the streets? To protect the protestors from vehicles driving into the crowd. This sadly actually happened on Sunday June 7th. No one wants this to happen again.

Can anyone come to CHAZ? Yes. It’s just like any area in Seattle. You can come and go as you please.

Are there security checkpoints? Do I have to pay to get in? Armed guards? No. No. and No. There are many videos showing how people freely and peacefully assemble in CHAZ.

Why is it called “Autonomous”? The best answer is “Twitter named it”. The backstory is the Seattle Police Department (SPD) left the area after 10+ days of protesting happened in the area. After they left, a few people called it the “Free Zone” which turned into Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ)

Do people have guns in CHAZ? Things are peaceful in CHAZ, but open carry is still legal per Washington law. Some sightings of people with guns have occurred.

Are you fighting for your Autonomy? No one is fighting for the “autonomy” of CHAZ. No one is trying to make CHAZ its own country or whatever. We do care deeply about the BLM movement and are fighting for this cause.

How do you get Food, Water, Supplies, etc? Most people you see on the streets are peacefully protesting for BLM (and most go home at night). Most people simply get their supplies from the dozens of local businesses in and around CHAZ. Many people have donated items to the BLM protests that are happening, so there are free snacks and water in CHAZ for protestors (there is a pinned post in this sub about donations).

How can I see what's happening in CHAZ? The best way is to come out here! If that isn't possible, there are countless livestreams (Facebook, Twitch, etc). They change daily, so try starting by searching for BLM, Seattle Protest, or something similar.

Guess the dream is over:

Seattle Police clearing CHOP area after Durkan issues executive order

Is the BLM movement dying down?

No.

There was no way CHAZ was going to last.

it only ended because protesters went to the mayors residence, so now is a problem.

but considering the last shooting is for the better anyway.

Didn’t matter. It was surrounded by US.Never gonna last. Eventually there would be something that would trigger it to be stormed.

It had very little power in the scheme of things.

Thankfully it seems like not too many people got hurt and I’m sure the arrested will get bailed out hopefully.

Mind expanding on the bolded part?

I'm truly curious at the meaning of that.

And yes, the mayor didn't do a thing until she was personally threatened.

that's about the whole "You’re Now Leaving the USA" thing, the pretentious idea that CHAZ was truly independent, and not part of or under federal control, which of course means it would be completely surrounded by the US anyway, the idea that the USA would just let a piece secede is just stupid (looking at you texas), as is the idea that a small group could decide that without consensus.
