Afraid of Success? - Open to everyone-

Have you ever been Afraid of Success?

Lets say you have the tools to become a successful business person, very successful.

It will require a lot of sacrifice... because of course, nothing very good comes too easy. You put effort into it, but not so much, because you feel like there is something holding you back.

After a lot of thought and analyzing your situation, you realize that you are afraid of success... as weird as it sounds you feel like this may be the answer to your lack of effort.

Has this happened to anyone? What are your thoughts?

I didn't find another forum to post this, the misc. and other forums don't have that many active users.

Yes I am never able to put my 100% due to this. Don't want the attention. Don't know if I can sustain it through. Don't know if i will like the results of the success. It needs a totally different mindset.

i'm similar in that I don't want the spotlight.



I don't mind success, if it's behind the scenes.

I have synonym /anonymous names when I write /publish books, so obvioiusly I don't want the spotlight.

my husband doesn't mind success naturally, and I prefer to give him the spotlight.

like I said, I don't mind it. it's fine and good, but I don't want spotlight.



to me though, if you can be successful in the small things in life, like be even a good gardener, a good sewer/ painter, whatever it is that ignites your passions, that is good too.

and the most underrated, is to have a good successful relationship with your significant other..

also, successful if you don't have a romantic partner...

is being successful with having great friends and great relationshps with other people. that is awesome in itself.

Ya, I can understand. Even I like to work behind the scenes and enjoy the fruits of the labour from a distance. No spotlight.

But I realized by giving my name I am taking responsibility for my work and being accountable hence sometimes when required I need to step up and be in the spotlight.

I feel the same way. and it's interesting that you are a Capricorn. Before posting here I asked 2 other Capricorns My mentor who is becoming a very successful business man and the guy that Im into who I believe has the tools to make it through.

I have been trying to find a way to change my mindset in to that and thats how I noticed that is hard to do it.

Mostly financially, in a business world preferably and like you said in your works, paintings and everything else. You can be a very successful (by being an well-known Author, yes that comes with the spotlight, the money, the networks, is a completely different life style )

You said you dont want or like the spotlight, but the reason may be becuase you are afraid of moving up to that life style .

Yes, before you reach or set yourself up to reach that level you start analyzing how your life will change and prefer to stay where you are most comfortable.

Is not about failure but let's say living a life style of a Millionaire, in a different circle of people, even if you're not like them..

Exactly, but let's say you have to do some things that will make you have money and that way you can achieve your other goals or live a good life without having to continuously work your ass off and live off your social security money.

no not really. they pay you for your talents, but you don't need to be in the spotlight.

even those who write songs/music lyrics/ect to famous artists, (ie, Madonna has people writing her music for her) that kind of thing.... they are usually low-key out of the spotlight, but people like Madonna love the spotlight because that's her thing.

if talented people don't feel comfortable in the spotlight then they shouldn't. They work behind the scenes and offer their talents to others.
