Yeah I read the book, watched the movie.
Read some testimonies about him.
In my opinion, he was idealistic at best. He also wanted control of his destiny (who doesn't?) but he didn't make realistic plans.
And he paid a price for that.
I think he was an extremely lonely person who felt disconnected, but instead of exploring the reasons why he felt that way, he chose escapism.

Hard to take his journey seriously. Especially after learning he's an Aqua/Leo moon. Talk about a facepalm life.
Into the Wild however, grew on me overtime but that was more Sean Penn than Chris I think.

there are some controversies that there are people on youtube who look at his life idealistically, very hippy like and and yes, yes, we love the freedom and so they are more on the hippy camp,
and then there's the other camp....
who think this is ridiculous and just awful to go off into the wildnerness and die like that.
put in the right video...of his child upbringing and high school
and he has his sister.....who loved him very much...
he came from a well to do family.
she said he didn't have a big ego..
hm, does she really see him like that? because he has a lot of pride.
