I am Australian and live about 45 minutes from where Steve and his family live and 'Australia Zoo' - in fact I took my niece there about 3 weeks ago. Steve was a 'dramatic' aussie and maybe that's what the americans loved about him so much 0 way over the top, a bit like their affection for Paul Hogan in the 80s. He was an intense person, some liked him, some didn;t even some aussies thought he was over the top. But he was the only famous environmentalist in the world and that surely has to be sufficient to mourn his loss. He was a regular bloke who was high on life. we have lost someone far more important to the world than the likes of the tragic death of a famous actor or something. But perhaps he live on more famous in death and that his works will be better appreciated and in his memory people will continue his work

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I heard about it on monday 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢

I adored Steve Erwin ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ... yes I did, oh dear me, I was so upset 😢

He was such a great man and very aninmated -- on and off camera -- he was afraid to be "Steve", he seemed very real 😢

He was one of the reasons why I chose to go into science (biology/applied biology/ envirnomental science) 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢

Watching him helped me decide on Environmental Science as my first stable career choice ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; ;-; Ha, it's funny ... I have a love for the environment but I have an interest on technology, so that's why I chose Biotech ^_^.

Before I stopped watching T.V., he was a big influence on me and although I know things happen for a reason ... I will still miss him dearly

I never thought he would go out in such a way ... a sea creature of all things? Man ......

It's a good thing I'm late on this topic ... I would've been worst on Tuesday.

I was very sad to hear this, I actually cried, think I'm silly if you must, but I think he was a really nice person with a great personality. If you had watched him work with animals and how much he treated them with respect, you'd realize what a blessing he was to everyobe (critters included) was by having him in their lives. I have a wonderful vet I work with, but I also know how hard it is to find ppl that really love and care about the animals they work with. Rather than just another job.
