My dad sun is cancer (moms in taurus); me and my brothers moons' are both in cancer, I have leo asc...no one in my immediate fam is a leo (my moms were parents Cap n Libra, dads mom is cancer not sure his dad, he thinks april which could be aries like my sun).
My Asc is Gemini and my dad is a Scorpio.

I heard somewhere that rising is what you were deemed in your family/what your parents raised you as. So I think it could depend on what the parents wanted from their child. The correlation between zodiac sign and rising sign could be a result of parents using their own 'positive' traits as a model for how the child should approach the world. Which sometimes results in children having their parents Sun signs as rising signs
