Game 1
Carlsen should have won this in middlegame
People saying Caruana defended well I agree yes but Carlsen blundered the Game 1 by taking the unimportant pawn in c3 and let Caruana took his monster pass pawn in f4.
Nevertheless Carlsen had the black pieces in that game so a draw isn't a bad result.
But I guess he must be angry with himself after throwing some good chances to win it lol.

I was surprised to see how quickly the players exchanged queens and brought kings into play. Also just learned that Game 1 was the second longest in a world championship, lasting 7 hrs. I can understand the pressure to be excruciatingly careful in each move for that prize money, as well as the title of victor. I can't imagine deliberating a move for 17 minutes. Excited to see what happens during today's game.

Oh btw you won't find checkmates in games between super grandmasters as they would rather resign earlier if they think they're losing and nothing can be done to prevent that. Unless it's a Blitz games 😄

Always interesting to see possible sequences demonstrated and flaws identified. Useful to know that when a useless bishop is saved with only pawns and kings remaining, draw can become necessary.

Not sure why Caruana insisted with the Rosolimo attack for twice in a row. Which is rare in WCC.
Maybe he's playing psychological with Carlsen showing that he's not afraid to repeat lines 😄
Stalemate like that could happen under these three circumstances:
-the pawn is a rook pawn (a or h file)
-the Enemy's king is able to reach the queening square and three squares around it
-the queening square for the pawn is in the opposite color of the bishop (the bishop won't be able to kick out enemy's king from that square)

Caruana won three games in Candidates by playing Petroff defense.
I'm sure Carlsen would have expected that he will play with it at least once.
I don't watch the game live as I couldn't watch it full but Carlsen likes to play with English or London system so I dont think it's a surprise there.

Most people predict that Carlsen will win the match easily 😄
It's already Game 7 and the score is still tied with no losses.
Caruana has proved that he's indeed strong. After all he's currently the second highest rated GM in the world just behind Carlsen.
He's very underrated for this match imo.
Oh and I enjoyed Jerry's channel more than Agadmator's for this WCC 😄

So each player has had a game apiece where they had a good opportunity to win a game but weren’t able to get it done right? I’ve also heard that if it goes to a tiebreaker, Carlsen will have the advantage. If that’s true (which I have no idea lol) would Carlsen maybe be playing somewhat cautious and be fine with going to the tiebreaker? Obviously he’d rather win before that, but maybe he’s also hoping Caruana gets too aggressive to try and win a game as the games get near the end and will try to take advantage of that. But tbh I’m not that knowledgeable about chess and am just spitballing lol
First 12 games will be played in Classical time format. They're currently playing Game 8 now I believe.
If there's still no winner after Game 12 (both are 6 points each), then the game will continue in Rapid format (I think there will be 4 games lol not sure).
Rapid is faster than Classical (20 or 25 minutes per game if I'm not mistaken).
Caruana is known for "not good" at Rapid. He's not even in the top 20 GM imo. So he must avoid going to Rapid at all costs.
