Does anyone know how to cook a good steak? Everytime I try, they get dry or tough. I wanna know how you guys do it?

I sear on very high heat (so high, I open kitchen window). I then flip on otherside to sear. Now, after seared, you can eat at rare, meduim, etc depending on how long you leave it in the pan.

Searing holds in moisture and tenderizes.

I marinade in olive oil and seasoning for a few minutes.

How you doing it? Grill, broiler or fry pan? Gotta heat up the pan before you throw in the meat - this is something to keep in mind for sex as well.

Rub it with olive oil both sides and salt and pepper. Or sometimes I let it sit in teriyaki sauce a little while if it’s not as good a cut of steak.

Surface has to be hot to sear on one side, but turn it down. To medium after a minute or two. Once the top starts to look like it's being cooked. Flip it to sear on the other side but don't leave it on as long. If you touch it and it's springy it's still a little rare inside. The firmer it gets to the touch (get your mind out of the gutter) the more cooked it is. DO NOT CUT INTO IT to see if it's done. That's for amateurs!

I use a frying pan. A cast iron skillet at that. Sometimes the griller. I put seasoned salt, pepper and meat tenderizer. I let it sit in the fridge for hours before I cook it.

I taught my kids how to cook steak. I'm done cooking everday unless I want to. It was the easiest quickiest thing I could teach them to cook.

So, I was laying in bed last night smelling the aromas of steak cooking. I smiled and was pleased to see that I had taught them well. Sigh of relief, the cooking "monkey" is off my back.

I usually grill mine. Make some whiskey marinade

(1/4 cup Olive Oil. 2 tablespoons Evan Williams Honey Whiskey. 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce. 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar. 3 clove Garlic (smashed) 1 tablespoon Ground Black Pepper. 1/4 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes). Let it marinade overnight.

Over cherry wood. Let the grill get to 140 degrees and grill it for 4 minutes on each side for medium steaks.

Get a good cut of meat...most important thing. Salt the meat way more than it seems like you should. Sear it for about 3 minutes each side, unless it's thin. That should do it.

Anything g less than $ 14.99lb is not a steak.

Course salt. Olive oil. Garlic. Grill OR pan.

Can’t go no wrong.

Or for real carnivores grill as is and salt and pepper after....grrrrrr

A very easy method I do is put a blend of the seasonings you want on the raw steak. Then smack the fuck out of it with a tenderizer. That really helps make it tender. If you really want to be fancy look up some easy to make marinade, and let it chill in that shit for a night. Or longer if you want. Get the pan really hot, then throw some butter or oil in it. Then quickly sear both sides of the steak, and eat it. Practice a few times till you perfect the method, or add your own twist to it over time. Eventually you will have it down to a science. You can grill it too, which makes it even better imo.

The first key to preparing great steak is getting quality meat!

I prefer new york dry-aged ( or really anything type of dry aged steak)

or grass-fed Kobe from my local high-end grocery store which was founded by butchers....

so in your case I would go to a meat shop/butcher!

Step 2- i only every prepare my steak on a grill - so

preheat a gas grill to 400 degrees

(takes about 45 min to an hour to get up to temperature)

step 3- sprinkle garlic salt or Santa maria seasoning on both sides of the steak

step 4- rub butter on both sides of the steak

step 5 - lightly grill char a couple of chillis ( jalapenos or serranos will do ) and green onion on your grill to season the grill before placing the steak down

step 6 - place steak on grill and continue turning and basting/rubbing with butter on each side as it cooks

move the steak around/watch for flare ups and adjust accordingly

Note* FAT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE ...so this process will frequently cause flames to rise well above the grill plate

step 7 - cook to medium rare on both sides ( about 135 degress in terms of internal temperature)

step8 - place on a bed of freshly chopped green onion to rest for at least 10-15 minutes

step 9 - ENJOY!!!!
