Because there is no substance in mainstream hip hop.

Anyway, I know what you're trying to do, you're asking who I listen to, not because you are genuinely interested in what I listen to, but because you are trying to "guage" who I am by the choices I make...like the whole eclectic thing.

But if you're really interested, I listen to everything..lately..it's been..

Jay Rock, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco, and Big Boi.

point...There are too many quality main-stream artists to make any type of argument that hip hop is dead/lack substance, if you're judging the music industry by what's playing exclusively on the radio..than that's just a minuscule comparison from a entire of genre of great music that has graced the radio consistently to get national acclaim.

Personally, I argue that everything has its place, some music is good to chill out too, some is good for the club, some is good if you're at a blcok party, some if you want to fuck some shit up or blow off some steam.

I hadn't even gotten into what artists I liked int he late 80's early 90's...or even what non-mainstream artists i like listening to..or just started listening to.

But you know, if you want to be angsty about the music industry..that's cool..i understand it, but as a whole? nah..

i mean you have some artists that have a great message but can be boring (common) and you can have some rappers that may not be talkig about a whole lot..but they have great charisma (T.I.) I mean there are other things to appreciate a rapper than just how they put together a song, whtehter they have a solid message or they're just boasting...how talented they are at spitting...etc.

thatw asn't meant to be an insult..i didn't feel like back tracking to find your name, blueribbons, but also your comment gave the impression that "I" was the one that thought hip hop was dead..and i was trying to clarify.

Hip hop is dead? I disagree. These two are both from 2011. If you want that real shit listen to the JETS and taylor gang (besides wiz [unless it's everything before kush and oj.])

NEAKO taylor gang

My bad, let's try this again...

😄 thank you....oldskool...for posting the vid.

I do find your language in describing some songs as dark....interesting.

See, to me, the first song I had posted, I wouldn't describe it that song as 'dark'..i'd describe it as 'real'...as in, this is something that's out there, or it's prevalent or the truth.

Dark ? I want to know your thought process behind that.
