Age and Consent

whats your view on a 19 year old dude with a 16 year old girl? ive been getting a lot of shit for it and im nervous about the legality of it. im perfectly ok with the age difference and 'societies' view of it, but im afraid of getting in trouble for it. i know its not legal in NY. also, all i know about her parents; they are strict as fuck and will not allow this situation.

advice or opinions plz 🙂

It's legal. She's 16, and you're not more than 4 years older. They changed the laws.

& honestly, you might be on the same level. The difference in maturity levels makes up for the age differences

age of consent in ny is 17. i have known of situations like this that have gotten ugly (even tho everything was consensual) either because a.) parents got involved or b.) the relationship went awry. so i'd advise you to be extremely careful no matter what.

oh, and yeah age of consent varies by state. but in ny, there are no ifs ands or buts. age of consent is 17 period.

it is the aqua lol. just thought id round up cuz her bday is in a week.

we are on the same maturity level. im young for my age and shes mature for hers.

althoughhh her bestfriend is going out with my bestfriend. so this brings 2 things to this situation....

1. i will be around her for as long as my buddy goes out with his gf (theyre over 1 year already and it looks like more is to come). this could be a good or bad thing, i cant say which.

2. my buddy is 18 and his gf is about to turn 16 also. so im in the same boat as him. this just adds more pressure on me and my actions.

I guess I'm not getting what a 19 year old has in common with a 15 year old. I understand she's almost 16, but still. I do not think her parents would be cool with this. She's still a baby, for christ's sakes. If you are really determined to see this through, I'd have an open and honest talk with the parents to see where they stand. If you are not in love with this girl, I'd wait until she's of age. You would not want the parents to freak out and ruin your life by pressing charges...so not worth it.

True, but I'm doubting this 15 year old fits into the "suitable" category!
There are plenty of girls out there. All I'm saying is don't limit yourself to what may be convenient or present.

the one thing that pisses me off is....im too young in every way to be with girls any older or the same age as me. it just wouldnt fit or feel right if i was with a 19 or 20 year old.

i was a late bloomer and kinda immature in high school. i really came into my own in the past year or two. if you saw me in real life youd guess i was still in high school. also i have a virlibra babyface 🙂

I feel like it's about equal mentally. When I met my first love, I was 16 he was 22. I didn't know he was 22 until way later though cause he told me he was 19 in the beginning and he looked of age. In the end he turned out to be the immature one. 3 yrs isn't that big a difference. If you really like her just use this year to get to know her thoroughly, hang out and just see how strong your feelings are.
