Florida

It's the Australia of the USA. It's fucking weird here. People do weird shit here. Weird shit happens. We have Florida man. We have bugs. We have dinosaurs. Our weather is bipolar. We have hurricanes. We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have palm trees.

I hate the Republicans. I hate the fact that everyone is moving here. I hate that people make fun of us and bitch about us but they always want to come visit us. I hate the tourist. I hate that I can't buy a home because they are over priced.

I'd like to move but the state I want to move to is on the other side of the country and cold.

The cons vastly outweigh the pros if you have any amount of exposure to the outside world

Hates: capitalism, gun violence, poor education system, unhealthy food/life style , religious fanaticism and idolatry, flip flopping on human rights, lack of every day technology to make life easier and more safe/pleasant. Also to add to an insufficient education system, is a corrupt education system - where else in the world are entire generations completely financially fucked over for decades for going to college? Corrupt government in general - politicians don’t want a better life for the people here.

Likes: my salary, easy access to home ownership, opportunities for financial independence/building credit - just earning potential in general, good food

Just wanna add that low cost of living is not a benefit or perk when the low cost of living is a symptom of the area. Who cares if your town has low cost of living if it’s unsafe, everything’s dirty, the food is disgusting, hard drugs are rampant, violent crime, gun violence, robbery, rape, and murder happening where you are every day. It’s not fucking worth it. I would much rather pay a lot more for nice weather, beautiful landscape aesthetics, and a safe, clean community (Australia)

Florida

I am a black woman.

I don’t like that my unfiltered black ass history is gaslight. Where does the anti blackness come from? Why can’t Beyoncé do Country music?

I don’t like the car dependence. I actually prefer car free cities like Bogota or Amsterdam.

I LOVE the food fusion. You can go anywhere and taste something regional to the area or international. You could probably get great General Tso or Tandoori chicken in Kansas If you really looked. A melting pot.

I love that I don’t need a passport to go to California or NYC.

I love that I can trash my government and not die for it.

I love that I want to be in the house 24/7 and not that I have to be in the house 24/7. Idk how other women in places like Afghanistan do it. I would have those men scared to drink any liquid. They would die of thirst.

Texas, best state in the Union. The thing I like about this state is that it's not California.

Things I don't like? The Republican state government, that's going to change soon. 😊

Have you been to California?

Yep, it's a beautiful state nature-wise and a human toilet in other parts.

Okay as long as you're not hating for no reason lmao. I haven't been but I know there's gotta be good parts and bad. The bad parts sound fucking AWFUL if its as bad as talked about. It makes me wonder what can be done to fix it and if it's even actually fixable. Bc some people literally just wanna live that way. Others are having issues and need genuine help.

Only for a day or so did I visit. I needed to get my foot in the door. I also get paid a lot of money (or I think I did pre-inflation anyway) and needed a change of scenery, AND this area has a lot of opportunities in my field. So yea it’s a bit more complicated than that. But it was never supposed to be a long term solution lol.

California is what happens when you let unchecked liberalism AND capitalism run amok. And this is coming from a guy left of center politically. My state has the other kind of problem: unchecked conservatism leaning on fascism.

Ted Cruz is going first, then you'll see some good change in Texas.

I live in the southeast. I hate the backwards way of thinking here and the uneducated redneck men who are set in their ways with their souped up 4x4 trucks (to make up for their tiny dicks), country music blaring, good ol boy attitudes who think they are Gods gift to women. I will not date a man who is from here. I just can’t without being totally repulsed. The only thing I like about living here is having my family close by. If it were not for that I would move far far away and never look back. I’m ashamed to be from here honestly.

For anyone living in the USA, tell me what you like about living there and what you don’t like?

Likes:

A lot of beautiful places which are potentially accessible

Unique in the way the country was founded --with some thanks to common law tradition and Enlightenment thinking--which allowed a large thriving middle class which has been historically anomalous (see more in dislikes related to this)

A Constitution with a Bill of Rights and associated freedoms(see more in dislikes related to this)

Still a land of opportunity if one is willing to put in the honest work to make it happen

Dislikes (well really one big one with a whole lot of subfactors):

When you hear someone use the pejorative "first world problems", the US is the poster child. We've had it so good for so long, due to the industry and creativity of generations before us, that there is a large number of historically ignorant retards and ingrates that have been insulated from suffering the consequences of the bad decisions they make, enabled by smooth talking shysters who manipulate those idiots for their own ends, and as a consequence innocent parties also suffer. We've become way too tolerant of it.

Example (about the time you really started seeing the trend):

30 years ago, a woman sued McDonalds claiming injury because the coffee she spilled on herself was "too hot". There was a time where there the reponse would be "hey dumbass, don't spill coffee on yourself", or more charitably, "that's unfortunate. We can help with rhe medical bills, but accidents happen". There's more to the story, but the gist is that was when the door opened to catering to the terminally stupid.

Or another example:

'Activist', usually egged on by some corrupt asshole who has a grift/agenda in the works behind the scenes: "we need to get rid of all fossil fuels right now."

Questioner: "How are the trucks going to deliver food"

'Activist': "we don't need trucks. We can just go to the store and buy the food"

The two examples are where the US has the capacity to handle the stupidity based on the bounty built by others. The problem is, the idiots are growing while eating the proverbial seed corn. And to compound it (for now) the idiots think they won't be affected. And will be the first to whine/cry/loot/lie/steal when they eventually are, too clueless to realize what they have lost. And unfortunately, pull everyone else down with them.

I was there twice

Beautiful state but found the men very forward 😂. I got hit on by a Bon Jovi lookalike and a guy with a Mexican tache who asked me to sleep with him even tho I only went into his shop to buy jewellry. This happened all within half an hour early in the morning 🥴. I liked their voices but not enough to have sex especially as the tache guy said he’d had 5 wives!

I loved the beach bars/restaurants…really cool. I’ve been to the States a few times and although wouldn’t live there, have always had a fascination with it…

Yep it’s going to take awhile. Australia is the hardest country to immigrate to geographically and legally with pets. Entry to Aus for 2 large dogs will cost me over $ 10k. Visa $ 5k+. Moving some things I can’t leave behind + flight another $ 10k. Selling house, pay realtor 6% of total value. Then there’s chipping away at as much student loans beforehand since AUD is a lot weaker than USD. Selling all my belongings I won’t take, probably will break about even. Lots of money coming in and going out, it’s not simple and fast. Very complicated, long, expensive process.

It’s horrible….I mean it’s not the worst place to live by any means. It’s relatively safe here….safer than other places, but the people who live here just make it unbearable at times. I would not advise anyone to move here. My cousin moved to Japan over twenty years ago. He was only supposed to move there for a couple of years and then move back, but since living there he said he will never move back to the US. He now speaks fluent Japanese and teaches English at an elementary school there. My brothers wife is from Germany and they have talked about eventually moving there. I plan on getting out the first chance I get.

I live in California – I love the nature, the mountains the beach towns the camping access to all of these beautiful landscapes. I live in one of least expensive area of California, and housing is stupid. There is not enough, how much I am supposed to pay in housing a month? 3K? 4K? on top of a $ 800+ Electricity bill? I do not like the government regulations, interference, oversite.

The Government of California is like if Robinhood took from people who worked hard to put food on the table, gave it to people who have nothing because they do nothing, then took himself a big cut and patted himself on the back.

I would move back to Texas if I didn’t just get a camper van, but nobody wants to camp in Texas, because that shit is hot sticky and they have tarantulas, scorpions and copperheads and water moccasin.

I hate the corruption in this country, it is terrible. The Corporate Oligarchs that poison everything we have access to and forces us to pay for their “cure” which just finishes us off.

Lived all over the US but I’m in Ohio right now

Doesn’t sound too good

Are you still planning to move to Oz?

Complex and expensive

Could you move in with the bf?

Positives... geographically, this country is unique (in no small part des to its sheer size) and trully breathtaking.

Babylon has spoiled a lot of people.

A/C year round, luxury cars, same-day delivery or next day for a small fee and accessibility of 24 hour stores (changed since COVID, but still). The egos of Americans are massive, and this shows when they visit other countries and get into altercations or humbled in some scenarios.

There is a lot America has to offer, but they go about it in such a poor way and greed takes over.

Midwest. About the US overall, I hate the greed here. The sheer greed. It's all about money and how much you make. But, honestly it's what you make of it when you live here. You have to form your own alliances. If you are of a different race, it's hard to fit in with the dominant race. Yes, I go to coffee shops and fancy liquor stores and I always feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. I should go to the stores where the "poors" live. They don't card you there. 😂 Excuse my rant.

. I have the "freedom" to express my "conspiracy ideas and beliefs" with like-minded people without

immediate lethal repercussion.

. Running water

. Access to food, uninterrupted electricity.

What I don't like/care for.

How easily we're divided for shit in the grand scheme of things don't matter. We all in the same damn boat.

The FDA making allowances her they wouldn't in another country.

I'm from NY. In the suburbs.

Washington State as of now. Been moving around the Western U.S. since I was 14

This country is like many other large countries, you got regional differences.

The best thing about this country is that you can move around freely (for the most part) Lots of beautiful nature.

Worst thing is mainstream culture, everyone's glued to the current standards and it kinda feels like a cult.

You will find a weirdo here and there who is cool and strays from the packs but they are hard to find (sane ones at least)

Mainstream culture

I see that

Like a mass mentality
