I feel like my purpose in life is to witness others happiness but not to experience it. Does anyone else feel this way? Do you think that is a bad purpose in life?

Posted by exxtasyxThank you
Lol I don't think that is your purpose at all, maybe you feel that way from time to time but it's definitely not your purpose. We all have a special purpose on here, including you, and watching other people be happy is not yours. I've been through a lot in my short life and I know for a fact that my purpose here on earth is to help other people in some capacity. I wouldn't have been tested with certain things if it weren't the case. I'm here to learn from my negative experiences and help other people with the knowledge I gain from them. It's weird because I'm very success-oriented and kind of materialistic so I have to give that up and out other people first in this lifetime.

I would say, as a Gem, I do feel that way too, infact most of the times. I'm wondering if this is a thing about us the air signs cos my sister, a libra has got the same issue.
Idk...maybe yes maybe not... ¯¯click to expand

Posted by coffeeloveIt just might be your purpose at this point. More like observation. Learning lessons that will lead you to your own happiness.

Posted by aquasnozNo I'm not. I'm like the bridesmaid never the bride. lol lol
Are you the source of their happiness? Sometimes making others feel happy comes back to you.

Posted by KemetisinmeVery good advice!! I love that and that is exactly what I am trying to do. :-)
I've been there ..
I used to resent the Creator, I sure have indulged in self-pity, experienced depression etc
only to realize happiness or at least being satisfied with life is more of a choice than the result of having many of your expectations being fulfilled
if you have your basic needs (food, shelter, clothing) met and have a few people you can interact with, then you -IMHO- have what's needed to be satisfied .. unless you're living in a toxic environment with no way out, dealing with PTSD and other things I can't think of atm
not to sound corny but you have to think of yourself as a diamond in the making
(- aww, that's so sweet 🙂
- I know, I know .. I'm not sweet tho, I just have my nice guy moments)

Posted by coffeeloveBe careful of self fulfilled prophecies.

You're exactly where you need to be.
Let's look at this for a moment:
Posted by coffeeloveNow let's take out the inessentials (don't bother with "purpose" – that ensues on its own, when it wants, and you won't even realize it's a "purpose"; and don't worry about the transient states that others experience [these states come and go], and don't even worry about "experiences") which leaves us with:
"I feel like my purpose in life is to witness others happiness but not to experience it."

"life is to witness."
There is no idleness or stagnation here, just a vast spaciousness in which you're free. Activity continues, things keep getting done, inspiration can ensue. But these things can't own you, and they can't touch that place of witnessing.
Keep staying as the Witness, and understand that even the witnessing itself is witnessed – even *that* is perceived. And go find out for yourself whether this place of ultimate witnessing requires happiness, whether it requires joy, whether it requires literally any feeling or state. It knows and needs no feeling or state – yet they can all happen in this spaciousness, but they can't own you. All there is here is equanimity and imperturbability. Everything else is changeful as a matter of course, but this place is not. Don Miguel Ruiz refers to this as "immunity in the middle of hell", that is, allowing your sense of personal identity (the ideas we have about ourselves) to a) be recognized as fundamentally illusory, and to b), allow these ideas to rest; not run from them, but to pay them no special attention, neither preferring nor avoiding.
When you engage in this discovery, you'll find something much greater and much more permanent than states of feeling and emotion that come and go (most of which are tied inexorably to external, phenomenal conditions having to be a certain way.)

Posted by coffeeloveNo, fuck witnessing other people being happy, that's not your purpose.

You're just an Aquarius, rare in your tastes, so it may take a bit longer for you, and women of your sign in general, to find the right one :-)click to expand
Posted by coffeeloveI also noticed, among my peers, that all of a sudden (since December) we are all geared towards Aquarius.Posted by Palerio:-)Posted by coffeeloveNo, fuck witnessing other people being happy, that's not your purpose.
