horror film recommendations:
this is a japanese one i really like
it’s called “Shikoku” it’s pretty old so i don’t even know if they have the english subtitle version of it but they might.
this film kinda leaves you with a sorrowful and bittersweet feeling. it doesn’t have any cheap tacky bloody gory scenes.
i feel like too much gore cheapens a horror film but that’s just my personal opinion.
gore is usually just used for shock factor so there’s not much depth to it. in other words it’s kinda boring and tacky for me.
this was more of a cinematically beautiful, psychological, spine-chilling, bittersweet type of horror.
Omg, Japanese horror movies are some of the creepiestclick to expand

yesterday, i found the english subtitle version of the full movie on daily motion if you wanna see it 😅 lol
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8juodj</a>
also someone wrote an english review online :
“The movie tells the story of Hinako. A girl who used to live in a rural village on Shikoku island in Japan. There she was friends with a girl called Sayori whose mother was the priest. Her mother used her in her sick rituals to summon the dead into her body so that people could communicate with their deceased. Both Hinako and Sayori dreamed of leaving the village behind and living their own lives. One day Hinako left with her family for Tokyo leaving Sayori behind. Years later a mature Hinako returns to the island after inheriting a property. She learns that Sayori died but doesn't believe the story she's told regarding the circumstances of her death as she sees her ghost. She begins to unravel the reality of her death as strange things begin happening on the island.
The movie deals with interesting themes considering it's Japan. The movie deals with tradition but in a bad, dark manner, portraying tradition in a negative light, abuse, jealousy, death, life, abandonment, pain and suffering. The movie also touches on the village and the discrepancy with the city life style due to the increased value of tradition and unspoken rules that dominate the village life. The movie also tackles the influence parents have on their offspring and how power-abusive some parents can be in their childrens upbringing.
The atmosphere is sad and gloomy. It's a very melancholic and depressive movie. There's not a lot of tension rather than overabundance of sad feelings and some love on the side. The movie can be a bit of a tearjerker depending on how much you relate to some characters but I'll dive more into that in the spoiler part of this review.”

Well it's about time notifications working again. So far it only working when you quote me, so far.
Anyway those candy corn is a halloween tradition but it can be eaten and seen all across America at anytime of the year. The taste is kinda hard to explain but it has this sweet sugary taste to it with natural flavors. It doesn't taste nothing at all like pumpkin or otherwise I wouldn't like it because pumpkin taste nasty to me unless it's pumpkin pieclick to expand

that sucks that they discontinued the apple caramel.
why don’t you like talking to people in real life?
are you surrounded by people who stress you out?
i like talking to people online too cuz i feel like people are more honest and candid online. don’t you think people are more honest online than in real life?
i can’t do artificial conversations 😂 like, when people start being artificial and performative, i just wanna turn around and leave 😂
my dad barely talks to anyone outside of work 😂he’s proudly anti-social 😂 i actually wanna be more like him and i’m slowly getting there but my people-pleasing ass still feels guilty/bad turning down outing invitations.
in fact, i’m dreading having to go out tomorrow with someone. 😅 i politely declined at first but he was like “well, everybody always says no” like, practically guilt tripping me into saying yes and i felt bad so i said sure. and now i’m regretting it but it’s too late to back out of it now so i guess i’m going 😅 i need to take responsibility for my words and actions 😂click to expand

Ugh dude you don't even know half of the reason why I don't like socializing with people face to face. I find it too stuffy for some reason and I just wanna be let go out the social circle amongst being socially awkward and all I be saying in conversations in real life is "yeah, uh-ha, right, right". I don't say much when conversing with people it's a miracle on elm street nobody find me boring to hang around with because I sure as hell find people boring to be with cus I be yawning while conversing with people. Now if these people here where I'm at were to ever talk about a subject like this right here 'autumn' then now we're talking but it seem so many people here like summer the most horrible and miserable season of them all. yeah summer is so humid, scorching hot and nasty lol 😂 i don’t like it either lol being hot and sweating pisses me off lol 😂 i wanna be dry and comfortable and clean and smelling fresh 24/7 😂 but i do love going to the beach tho 🏝️ 🏖️
do you prefer one-on-one interactions to group interactions as an introvert? you mentioned before somewhere that you’re a lone wolf type.
i don’t really like group interactions that much either to be honest lol 😂 i prefer to focus on one person at a time. which is strange considering i’m an extrovert and have an extrovert job too 😂
and like, i get that some people feel more comfortable in groups and stuff but i feel sorta uneasy in groups cuz i don’t like “herd mentality” and groups/cliques often tend to be breeding grounds for “herd mentality”. i wanna think for myself and not be influenced by the group cuz there’s no guarantee that the group/clique even knows wtf they’re doing, right? lol 😅
but i still like talking to people online cuz people tend to reveal things online that they wouldn’t reveal in real life so it’s interesting to listen to people’s actual, unfiltered thoughts on things haha 😆click to expand

LoL
Indeed, most Slavic kids have memories of having to go pick a branch from a tree with witch to be whipped by. And if you dared to cry, they'd (parents) would say something along the lines of "keep going (cryin) & I'll give you something to cry about!" They weren't joking either!
Oh right, of course,, those exhagared tales of when ones parents were kids themselves & the hardships they had to endure therefore you should be grateful for the curtent life style you are afforded by comparison. The irony is that each time the stories are recycled, they get more & more exaggerated & wild 🤣 Most of us have become immune to emotional blackmail thanks to our parents.
Belts, branches... pretty much anything they can grab first to spank you with its fair game. & flip-flops can miraculously turn corners too but I think the latter is pretty much universal from Latin America, to Asia, Middle East & Balkans 😅

The movie can be a bit of a tearjerker depending on how much you relate to some characters but I'll dive more into that in the spoiler part of this review.”

this is a japanese one i really like
it’s called “Shikoku” it’s pretty old so i don’t even know if they have the english subtitle version of it but they might.
this film kinda leaves you with a sorrowful and bittersweet feeling. it doesn’t have any cheap tacky bloody gory scenes.
i feel like too much gore cheapens a horror film but that’s just my personal opinion.
gore is usually just used for shock factor so there’s not much depth to it. in other words it’s kinda boring and tacky for me.
this was more of a cinematically beautiful, psychological, spine-chilling, bittersweet type of horror.

If only discipline were still a thing in America!!! You realize that school bus companies in America are hiring school bus drivers plus “mentors”. It is the mentor’s job on the bus to make sure the kids stay seated on the bus.click to expand

This is what I been treating myself with for the autumn season
Those candies is soooo good if you eat just one you can't stop.
i’ve been seeing those halloween candy corns (?) in pictures and stuff but can’t find them here in japan lol what do they taste like?? corn?? pumpkin??
Well it's about time notifications working again. So far it only working when you quote me, so far.
Anyway those candy corn is a halloween tradition but it can be eaten and seen all across America at anytime of the year. The taste is kinda hard to explain but it has this sweet sugary taste to it with natural flavors. It doesn't taste nothing at all like pumpkin or otherwise I wouldn't like it because pumpkin taste nasty to me unless it's pumpkin pie
ohhh nice! i was always kinda curious about those candy corns lol yeah pumpkin flavored snacks can sometimes taste nasty if it’s not done right lol i was browsing online for halloween snacks and found some nice ones lol :
pumpkin pie Kit Kat. you might like these lol
ghost toast (?) cinnamon toast flavored one lol
witch’s brew Kit Kat lol
this looks soooo good 👍 candy apple and pumpkin spice caramel. only in america, i think
pumpkin, bat, and ghost shaped Reese’s cups
in japan, they always sell this apple pie Kit Kat every fall 🍂 i tried it last year. it was good. actually tasted like apple pie lol 🍎 i just dunno why it’s purple tho lol 😅

& flip-flops can miraculously turn corners too but I think the latter is pretty much universal from Latin America, to Asia, Middle East & Balkans 😅

my dad told me with a straight face he’s very proud of me besides the fact that i turned out gay 😂 he says he doesn’t understand it and i used to be offended but now i don’t care cuz he doesn’t try to change me. he’s like “i don’t understand it but you’re still my most well-behaved son and you make me proud in many other ways”. 😅so i think as long as i make up for it in other ways, he’ll let me off the hook for the most part 😂🤷♂️

Pardon my late response, @serenidad, got no notification for your post. At any rate, the quoting eventually gets exhausted once it reaches certain word/icon limit. That's why I kept my previousnpost so brief. It was totally messing up my verbosity flow! 🤦♀️
I'm really glad to hear you & your dad were/are able to establish and nurture a mutually respectful & loving relationship. It's challenging for older generations to break away from societal norms so I see that as quite the step forward on your dad's behalf. I'll never forget when I got my first tattoo, my mother didn't speak to me for a month. She thought I had defiled myself & that belonged with the Yakuza hahahah🤣. Grand times!click to expand

your mom ignored you for a month over a tattoo? that’s crazyy 😅 was it a big noticeable tattoo? and yeah i don’t know why tattoos are still associated with yakuzas. people can’t even go into hot springs (at hotels/resorts and stuff) here in japan if they have tattoos. i remember when my friend came to visit from the US, me, him and my dude went to a hot spring and there was a sign saying “no one with tattoos permitted inside” so i tied a cloth/towel around his upper arm where his tattoo was and we covered it up. i can see how facial tattoos may give off gang vibes but a rose or dragon or something on someone’s arm? i don’t see any issue with it lolclick to expand

Indeed she did! To her defense, it was many maaaany moons ago when I had it done. It was my bday gift to myself as well as a farewell to my best friends (two sister ...both Asyrian) when I was leaving Germany. All 3 of us had done a different tattoo at the same time, at the same tattoo parlor so we never forget each other no matter where into the world we might be. Tattoo is not that big. About 6 inches on the side of my calf starting about 2 inches above my ankle. I'll include the rendition of it down below.
Anyhoot, I'm glad you told me about not being able to enter hot spring with visible tats. I had not idea! Speaking of yakuza, am I wrong for understanding that the lore surrounding them is having new found appreciation and resurgence!?
Side note, I've been looking into buying a property outside of the US anywhere from Latin America to Japan, but can't reconcile myself attemtping to learn Japanse at my age 😭 Although I'd love, loooove, to acquire a rural property on the island of Hokkaido. *sighs*
This the 1st tatto in question...
Colors have now somewhat faded out & could definitely use retouching. Also, the color on the rose pattels intentionally fade out towards the edges on the actual tattoo. In other words, nothing too gory or what could traditionally be otherwise considered "offensive". 🙄😅

@serenidad thanks bunches! I figured it was a timeless design that wouldn't age too badly. Moreover, one of it's spiritual representations is that of Virgin Mary (I'm not religious though) which lined up with orthodox cross ☦️ design sisters (also my sisters though not by blood) chose so there was an additional thread linking us three togater. I think it worth noting that most ppl fall into two camps, either those who love them or those two dispize tattoos. I clearly fall under the former category & if I could have a spare skin suit, I'd have it all tattooed from neck all the way down to my toes. Id love to find a tratidional Japanese tattoo master who'd do a tattoo on the nape of my neck but, yeah... good luck with that!
Funny you should mention misapplication of foreign words/-phrases/ letters coz earlier today my YT feed populated with the video below. I wonder if it was kismet, cosmic alignment or just helluva Spyware search engines are deploying these days... hmm 🤔 at any rate ...
