DXPIL Cup Players Lounge

Here is the rules and format for the DXPIL Cup

RULES

For each match up you will get 5 questions. Every match up has a home team and an away team. The Home team can choose to answer 2 or 3 of the questions first depending on their strategy before the away team answers. Each right answer is 1 goal whether you picked it or not. The team that scores the most goals out of those 5 questions wins.

FORMAT

1. Group Stage

There will be 3 groups of 4 teams. All 4 teams will play against each other once. There is not an overtime during this stage, and unlike during a normal season of DXPIL, you can get a draw during this stage. A win will be worth 3 points. A draw will be worth 1 point. A loss is 0. The 2 teams with the most points in each group will advance in this tournament. Then 2 of the three teams in 3rd place in their groups will also advance. The tie breakers in all of the group standings are in the following order:

Win streak

If there is a tie within the 3 teams in third place, a game or two will determine who advances to the next round.

2. Quarterfinals

8 teams from the initial 12 will make the Quarterfinals.



Each match will have 2 different "legs" on aggregate. Basically meaning there will be two different games where both teams will get a chance to be at home. The scores from each leg will be combined and whoever scored the most goals in both games combined advances. If there is a tie then whichever team scored more away goals will advanced. If there is still a tie, the game will go to extra time. Extra time will be different than the normal overtime where there will be more than 1 question in overtime and both teams will pick again.

3. Semifinals

The 4 teams in the Semifinals will also play legs on aggregate.

4. Final

The final will be just 1 game. Whichever team was the higher seed in the Quarterfinals will be the home team. Extra Time is still in play if there is a tie after 5 questions.

The groups will be determined by the teams you are representing. If you are representing a team that has been around in the past 2 seasons you have a better chance of being in an easier group. 6 teams who did better in the past 2 seasons will have 2 home games while the other 6 teams will only have 1.

This will be determined by championship wins, playoff wins, and then season wins

So if you are repping a new team and are new than you will have more away games as this is just your first foray into the DXPIL.

I will try and have the groups as well as the schedule tomorrow afternoon. First games will pick either tomorrow night or friday

“What troubles you, my friend?” he is asked. “I was stood up”, he says in reply. “Many moons ago, MissScruffs of The Cancer Sun Crime had promised to meet me again for the DXPIL Cup. She apparently broke that vow as she is nowhere to be seen. Disappeared and forgot or no longer cares about our deal.”

“I am sorry to hear that”, is said in reply. *audible sigh* “It’s alright. Even though nothing would bring me greater pleasure than to face her again”, says Tiz.

Finishing his smoke and realizing waiting any longer is futile, Tiz decides to take a walk to clear his head. Upon his return to DXPIL headquarters, “Hey boss”, he mutters somberly. @AfternoonDelights22 hands him a note. “Someone dropped this off for you while you were out”, the boss says.

Dear Tiz,

We made a pact. Four years ago to be exact. Regardless of where the league takes us, we will meet again for the DXPIL Cup in 2019. Unbeknownst to you, I did keep that promise. You see, when I lit your pipe I recognized you as the starring player of the now Libra Sun Vice and I did not have the heart to inform you I will dethrone you again and win the DXPIL Cup.

“Why water a dead flower? I should just leave well enough alone”, he thought as he contemplated which pair of white tube socks he should wear as such is a Libra Sun’s life.

But the beckoning call of the DXPIL Cup got too loud. As did the rivaling MissScruffs’ treachery. She tricked Tiz into not signing up for the DXPIL Cup.

“Fair play, it was not”, he thought. So here he was.

Gazing up at the luxurious DXP Three Seasons hotel, reading ‘We Leave Off the Last Season for Savings’, he enters and presents his DXPIL Club Pass at the front desk.

“Good evening Mr @tiziani , it’s nice to have you here with us again”, says the clerk.

“It’s nice to be here”, he says. “ @AfternoonDelights22 has reserved our penthouses for DXPIL Champions. Right this way to your suite, sir”, says the clerk.

Upon entering the suite, he marvels at the cubic zirconia encrusted ‘Tiziani Your Private Dancer’ poster the boss had mounted for him. *audible whistle* “This is really something”, he says.

“Room service will be up shortly and your bath is being run as we speak”, says the clerk.

“Thank you. I will call on you if there is anything else I need”, he replies with a sheepish smile as he walks the pretty clerk to the door.

He finishes eating his dinner and decides to soak in the tub while listening to Hydorah’s 80’s Mega Thread. As yet another one-hit-wonder hums a tune, he steps out of the bath and clears the fog from the vanity mirror.

The hint of a sly smirk creeps up on @UrsaMediocre ‘s reflection as he thinks taking over The Libra Sun Vice wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

A lot of rivalries had been building the last few seasons but most of them were with Tiz unfortunately xD

Ya'll gonna have to pull Ursa into the rivalries or he is gonna have to win this cup and continue the heel Vice tradition

And also the group B/C second place team would have home field advantage if they played the group A second place team in the finals even if the group A second place team had the better record? 🤔🤔

If so, I might have to report this to the DXPILPA

So wait a sec, is this bracket saying that the first place team in group A is the #1 seed in the quarterfinals and would have home field advantage in the finals even if they played the group B first place team or group C first team, even if the group B/C team had a better record in the group stage? And also the group B/C second place team would have home field advantage if they played the group A second place team in the finals even if the group A second place team had the better record? 🤔🤔

If so, I might have to report this to the DXPILPA

No whoever has home field advantage in the finals will be determined by who did better in the group stage between the two teams

There really is no home field advantage in the other rounds as there will be 2 games each

Yeah the seeding was because I put the top 3 teams over the last 3 seasons in separate groups. Vice, Fire, Tacos
