Ever took an IQ test?

1st of all, are studies always correct? And, how many people do they test to come up with these claims?

I saw a study showing that an average IQ for
East Asians = 106
Whites = 100
U.S Blacks = 85
Africans = 70 😢 (that claim is just plain retarded as those points & simply untrue IMHO)

I consider myself an AVERAGE person of African descent & my IQ is NOT 70. LOL!

I've taken IQ tests, many actually.

Keep in mind, Watercup, that a level of IQ for you is stated in dxp .... just after you were told it depends on the test you take.

People are so stupid ... it just amazes me that they have no clue about it.

I created this thread because as we speak there are heated debates all over the net about intelligence due to the Martin case & the star witness, Rachel Jeantel. I'm not going to lie, before I didn't know that there were studies done to prove who is smarter (until many people started to post all these studies from different sources, to "prove" how "accurate" they were in Rachel's case. LOL!) Ofcourse I don't agree, but it still interested me anyway.

We were also given IQ tests when I was in grade 11 & it was way above 70 (I must be an African genius). LOL! It just proves how wrong these "studies" are & how ignorant people are to believe they are true.

Nothing much, I was just curious, guys 🙂

When I lived in upstate New York....even though it wasn't "correct", everyone said "tooken"

When I moved to the midwest.....everyone said "taken".

Ive been ridiculed by gay people for being straight and having the sexual preferences of being submissive. There seems to be tension there going by the various websites that I frequent. Black women in those sites claim that white women are stealing their men, or are after their men, etc. There's also a trend where the two make threads about who looks better, anything from flat asses to calling each other names like "she-boon" "she-rilla", etc. LOL! Nobody seems to mind the name calling though & I personally find the names hilarious, not bothered at all. Don't mind the hate though cause I don't think it has anything to do with you as a person, but has everything to do with the person projecting their insecurities on you. Btw, a white girl on 1 website thought I was African-American & when I disagreed with her about something, she then called me Shaniqua & Shabooniqua. LOL! People are funny.

i'm mixed and maybe it's because of my mix that i find racism to be archaic. people need to be less territorial over the things they have no ownership over.

IQ can go up or down really. it changes most frequently when we are kids.

parents will glowingly tell me that their 5 your old has a really high iq. totally awesome, but chances are very high that it will drop as they grow older. brag about it when they're 20 or so and I'll congratulate them.

not to mention iq tests arent really standardized. most of them measure abstract reasoning, and is that really the generally accepted measurement of intelligence—?

sure i guess *shrugs* but there are many facets of intelligence. you could be gifted at spatial reasoning or math and score averagely on an iq test.

the metrics, imo, mean very little. we could all test high on these iq tests but what's that score really doing for you, or you for it? it's like a diploma or a resume imo. it's just a one dimensional thing. two at best.

The tests that scored Africans that low were probably biased towards a Western education. If I recall correctly, the original IQ test was developed by the military as a way to discover talent for future leadership positions. The test itself was meant to measure an individual person's logical skills, not necessarily their answers, but more so how they arrived at their answers. That, I believe, is a trait that would be independent of race.

I was tested once at the age of twelve by a small group of psychologists during my stint as an ADHD patient.

I've taken a lot of IQ tests before just to improve my chances of passing the law aptitude exam of the most student-selective law school in the Philippines (U.P.). My mum told me that the entrance exam of that school is pretty much like the IQ tests so I tried. Hahah... I got scores ranging from 121 to 154 but my mode is 130-132.

Well, I guess, taking IQ tests to improve my aptitude in law school was da*n effective coz I passed! 🙂 UP is the premier law school in the nation and the most student-selective just as Yale is the most student-selective in the US.

I sometimes wonder, would I have a higher IQ if, say, I got my basic education in western nations where the quality of education is so much better than here? That question has given me the idea of pursuing a legal career outside the Philippines in the future. I want to stay in an advanced nation so that my children would have the best qualities of education in the world. I've often thought about that coz I am often regarded as one of the most intellectually bright in our place but, you know, this is a third world nation so I'd probably be comparable to someone in the US with an IQ of 100.

Anyway, I've settled the differences in my IQ scores when I officially took an IQ test more than 6 months from the last time I've taken one. I got 130. 🙂 I know, IQ scores serves no purpose but I got way, way too curious!!! Heheh...

Old age must be catching up fast..aren't you the one that corrected my ENGRISH? So in my defense I had to mention all these other languages that are cramming my brain. Engrish is NOT my home language but I'm doing a fantastic job speaking it on top of all these other languages that I can speak. since yesterday, I've been paying attention to watercup (in the past, she was hardly noticed because my first impression of her was that she was kind of too stupid for me to relate to) ... and I've noticed in this past day and a half, that it's highly possible that she does average around 70, maybe 75 .... concepts escape her completely, and observing conceptually is the first indicator that a person is above average intelligence .... so, that puts her just marginally average as is stated for her group. Well, the group she claims to be in ... I don't know for a fact which group she is in, only what she claimed.

I only read this post, so forgive me if this has been stated, but:
The tests are culturally biased and that is why African people and even U.S. blacks tend to test lower.

Also, people can test lower at times because some of the tests give you points for elaboration. So if you tend to make shorter answers, you will score lower on some portions of the tests.

I have taken one online for fun, other than that, no I have not taken them. I have administered some as a teacher.
