You aren't the first one who thought suicidal thoughts when working in hospitality. People are trolls and the companies are usually shit.
It's why drinking and drugs are rampant because it's how many cope. On the serving side of things- the short shifts and quick cash make it hard to leave. Not many places where you can work part time with such a flexible schedule and make 20+ an hour. At least here, anyway.
I did hospitality for 4 years while I was in school.
It really made me sick at first - all the negativity, people talking to you like you are trash, taking all their frustration out on you. 😩
As you said, you kind of become numb to it but still, is that even more tragic ?
It’s not worth any type of money imo

I work in hospitality now and when I was 23 I was a prostitute.
I never once considered suicide when I was a prostitute in comparison to working in hospitality.
At the start of the year is was a regular occurrence and now it’s a lot more better because I have it under control and it was mainly because of the work life style of hospitality that drove me insane.
Maybe they finally broke me in because I don’t care anymore and can do my job without caving in.
I don’t think I could prostitute myself on a regular basis anymore, maybe a personal client here and there
I think it’s the money I miss and the freedom it brought me.
I feel like the more I make doing a regular 9 to 5 job the more I get taxed and it’s driving me insane because I’ve never filed my tax before and I want to live a normal life but it’s fuckjng impossible for me to.
I’m 31 and I’m tired already which is why I’m turning into a drag queen so I can be paid to be the elephant in the room.
Has anyone every had to resort to thinking outside the box to make ends meet?
