Posted by firebunnyYes I heard of it. And unless you are certain you have had ancestors within USA, Canada, the UK, or other European countries, it'll be a huge waste. My 99.8% Caucasian friend got like .02% Asian - not even anything specific which was ridiculous. But I think it helped her identify a medical condition. You just give them a saliva sample.
We can't trace our Chinese and Spanish ancestors anymore but I don't seem to look 100% Filipino either. I really want to know. Have you guys checked 23andme.com? It says there that with $ 99 and a sample of your hair, you can have your DNA tested. It's like 5,000 pesos. I'm planning maybe next year. @_@

Posted by ManilaViceDude, have you seen my other photos? The only photo you've posted is of me looking darker than I really am in person. I'm not very consistent in photos. I'll show some of my photos though.Posted by firebunnyLMFAO!
I'm having a bit of an identity crisis. My mum often says that her father (my grandfather) has Chinese-Spanish ancestry. I believed her for a long while, never questioning whether it's fact or fiction.
Many people around us also tell me that I look like my grandfather a bit. He doesn't look like an ordinary Filipino. The average Filipino has brown skin. He is much fairer and had pink-reddish shades on his face, particularly on his cheeks. His nose is aquiline and had high nose-bridge, unlike most Filipinos who have small noses. His eyes look rounder than those of ordinary Filipinos.
I guess, apart from his eyes, I have many of his attributes. However, I don't have a picture of him. I can post pictures of myself, however. I want to settle this identity crisis. I want to know if I do have Chinese-Spanish ancestry... but meanwhile, I can't consider myself an ordinary Filipino either. I look fairer than most Filipinos. My eyes are slanted too and my nose is definitely not small and is a bit more pointed than the average Filipino nose.
the average filipino is tan/ kayumanggi. you seem to be of that skin tone. the reason those kids are darker is because of sun exposure.
you do have a higher nose bridge than the typical pinoy but chinese people can also have that. my grandfather is pure chinese from your region and he gets mistaken for a mexican by his neighbours in cali when he lives there. he's very flattered when they do.
haha remember when i posted a side by side of your face with the average of many filipino faces? you could have been brothers!
i think you can definitely pass for chinoy but mestizo is a bit of a reach. does your mom, sister and brother seem spanish to you? like if you saw them on the street would you identify them as tisoys or tisays? like my mom if you see her it's obvious she's a mestiza but then her pisces bro looks more filipino except he's 6'1 or 6'2. her aries sister looks straight up east asian but then that must be the aries influence. then her venusian siblings look spanish. same genes.
everyone seems to want to be korean now though. my sag cousin was thinking of eyelid surgery because she was getting pissed that people were asking her if she was korean so she was thinking of getting bigger eyes.
also pure filipino is in now. sexy boatman vibes.click to expand

Posted by ManilaViceSHUT UP DUDE I'M NOT KAYUMANGGI!!!Posted by firebunnyah well not everyone will be the exact same shade of tan. it varies. i'd still consider you kayumanggi even with different lighting.
I don't claim to be as pale as white people, if you think that's what I am implying. However, I can't help but notice that I am not as brown as most pinoys either. I'm more in the middle.
everyone will probably just read this thread and be like man these asians are weird talking about skin tone lol!

Posted by ManilaViceNot weird, it's common for most people to think of themselves as whiter than they actually are, sadly. As for white people themselves, I noticed a lot are gloating about german or scandinavian ancestry like if it was a step higher up the scale.

I traced my ancestry a few years back. It was a long and complicated process because every branch was from a different country and I still haven't been able to trace one branch but I narrowed it to two. If you need help getting started just send me a pm.
I found Italian 24%
Irish 12%
English 12%
Swedish 12%
Dutch or German 12%
French Canadian 12%
Mohawk Indian (Quebec) 12%

Posted by hydorahHow about my nose? Doesn't it look Aquiline to you? Europeans have high pointed aquiline noses. Filipinos have pug nose.
I agree everybody in that pic just looks SE asian and is wearing blue.
The guy taking the selfie is the only one that looks like he could be a bit mixed with european, but it could just be another SE asian type

Posted by deedee85How does it work? Thanks in advance. 🙂Posted by firebunnyTo help? I wouldn't charge.Posted by deedee85How much?
