If you could change one major historical event...
"The Great Leap Forward."

Off the top of my head, i would have to say the conception and birth of 'Adolf Hitler.' a.k.a - World War II.
sorry, but it just wasn't worth the millions of lives turned into soap, shot in the head, starved or gassed to death. Men, women and children. Nothing on earth, could ever justify. Just too extreme here. Eventually anyway, the rest of the world would have found their way. -war is never neccessary, but since mankind is only human, i do appreciate all the sacrifices made, to give our world the freedoms and democracy we know and enjoy today.
I would prevent the Burning of the Ancient Library in Alexandria. Romans were stupid for keeping all that knowledge in one place that could be easily destroyed. The one destruction caused the dark ages in Europe and set up the modern world. I would love to know now what people figured out a millenium ago and it took us thousands of years to refigure out. Plus all that history of all those people... stupid loss!
I would prevent the creation of religion. Too many wars fought over it. Specifically, I'd prevent the main religions of today, those that fight all the time (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism). No war has ever been fought in the name of Wicca.
If it were up to me, Eve wouldn't have ever eaten that apple! We are all cursed and/or born into sin b/c of her! UGH, women!
