Life story: Moving out with no job and no money: What were the problems you faced?

Posted by DonJohnHuh. Same, except I just rented a room out eventually since I didn't have any friends around. Taught me alot about myself, about crawling out of a pit to the light. It really changed me when I was younger.
dejection
loneliness
depression
I did this with a job though and some money.
first few nights I actually slept on park benches. it was summer. then eventually homeless shelters. then eventually found a friend to shack up with.
but it was probably the most depressing period of my life in retrospect. but hey without the bitter, you can't taste the sweet lol
i can't imagine being a female through all that tho.

Posted by BloopHighly recommend you move in with a friend or rent a room and have 3 months of room rent saved. The rest you can figure out on the fly tbh.

Posted by KodakI dont have friends in that city, thats my major problem. Plus its like the city where EVERYONE moves in,so chances of getting a free place/couch to stay are pretty lowPosted by BloopHighly recommend you move in with a friend or rent a room and have 3 months of room rent saved. Posted by ChoXtsyYes Its voluntary. But I badly need a change of environment. The city I am currently in does not match my personality.
If it's voluntary, then it's a stupid decision.
The hardest thing about moving out was having less money to spend on b.s.

Posted by BloopFind the average room rent cost, save up weekly a percentage till you hit a 3 month mark, while looking for roommates through rent a room websites. Also, not to be a dic#, but your major problem right now is you never had to survive.Posted by KodakI dont have friends in that city, thats my major problem. Posted by andstillI thought you were a Taurus, not virgo.
i don't think it's the same as moving out for westerners. it's easier to get part times and side gigs. like you can hand out flyers and get paid 5 bucks wtf that's a whole months salary here!

Posted by KodakThis is excellent advice. I'd take this a step further and say save 3 months of ALL your expenses, rent, cell phone, gas/transportation, food, healthcare, etc.Posted by BloopHighly recommend you move in with a friend or rent a room and have 3 months of room rent saved. This will be the money that keeps you off the street if you ever loose your job. You have 3 months to find another one.
On top of this amount you should then save up your moving cost. Which, typically, will be your first and last month plus a deposit.

Renting a room is the way to go. You only need to furnish your room which means less expenses. Also typically the Internet/cable is included in that rent amount meaning one less bill to pay each month.
I recently downsized my living situation and am renting a room and it's been the best decision. I'm paying almost half of what it would cost to rent a one bedroom apartment in the complex next door. And I'm renting a room from a house so the common spaces (living room, dinning, kitchen) are much larger then they would be in an apartment. Plus secured parking and outdoor space. It's heaven here and I'm able to save 50% + of my income.
