I don't think any of us are really mature at all. Sure, some of us are. But I'll admit, I'm not really mature. But shoot I'm 21 I got the rest of my life to be thinking about the future and changing opinions but now isn't so. I can give a reasonable and mature response on a topic but I can't say that it won't be bias unless someone's asking for no bias on a topic that's relatively bias. But for someone to be called immature for an opinion? I think in some ways that's stupid. That's their opinion and they're entitled to it regardless of how they feel about the topic. But does that make them immature? Does that make them childish in their response? I see maturity as the way someone can act towards other people because they stated their opinion and they didn't like it too much so they blasted them in the comments. The way they'd stoop in a fight. And believe me I think on dxp I've seen more people who were way older than me basically stoop to incredibly high levels of immaturity that even I'd be a bit jealous (looks in the direction of some people). So what do you think make immaturity and what do you think makes maturity?

Upholding responsibilities and knowing when to walk away

Doing something because it is the right thing to do, not because the person deserves it

Being aware of weaknesses, acknowledging them, and striving to improve them

Being aware of others' strengths, acknowledging them, and utilizing them

Being aware of others' weaknesses and not exposing them

Focus

Ahh I see. But I will say exposing weakness can give you a great advantage in a fight. If you don't shoot first you don't shoot at all. In some cases I see what you mean but in the case of things going south with other people, why not expose that Achilles heel?

25 will be tomorrow, then 30 in a week and you'll think fuck I'm ready for this ride to stop now. But it won't. You just have to embrace the now and remember tomorrow will likely come. Most humans become mature in time, but it's more accepting life the way it is. Just trying your best to become better, and not stepping on as many toes as you do.

Stop caring about what people think as much. They say in your 20's and 30's you care what people think about you the most. In your 40's and 50's you stop caring. Then in your 60's and 70's you realize no one was really thinking about you in the first place. The amount of time people spend thinking about another person is slim. They mostly think about themselves, their problems, and even what you think of them. Billions of minds with expansive and vivid lives just like your own. The validation thing is pointless. Its like trying to be accepted into something that never really existed in the first place. We are already here, what more could one want? I think that is mostly me coming to terms with something I cant really explain. If you can relate thought I get it lol.

This is the best answer to any question I've ever heard ever anywhere.

It's cool. And thanks SF. I think we should all come to acknowledge that we're imperfect and trying to say that one person or another is very mature for their age or try to pin one's self off as being the most mature thing around is blasphemy. Because I know some people who've been told they're very mature for their age act like a rabid dog behind the closed doors. I feel some people only do that just to get everyone's approval on a topic that's otherwise one sided and controversial. Ands, (has such a sense of humor) lol 😄

Which age and which amount of experience is needed for maturity? What is it?
In the scheme below I claim to be pending between "through me" and "by me". Due to my age and experiences.
I really don't know where this comes from: Rumi? New Age? Bible? Bhudism? Plato? What else? I only read this text. Maybe some of you have heard about it already. And can comment on it?

K1: Victim Consciousness. domain of the ego.

K2: Linear Mind. we encounter the Law of Cause and Effect. form.

K3: Spiritual Reality. The Law of Attraction supersedes.

K4: domain of Illuminated and Enlightened States. no longer any sense of separation or individual identity. the ultimate destination of our journey. technically no longer a —me?? for things to be done as.

Yet another story: The four stages of competence:

1. Unconscious incompetence
The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit.

2.Conscious incompetence
Though the individual does not understand or know how to do something, he or she does recognize the deficit, as well as the value of a new skill in addressing the deficit.

3.Conscious competence
The individual understands or knows how to do something. However, demonstrating the skill or knowledge requires concentration.

4.Unconscious competence
The individual has had so much practice with a skill that it has become "second nature" and can be performed easily.

[From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_stages_of_competence]<BR>
Mature handling will be your second nature one day. With excercise. Long after you recognize you need it.

imo, our society's morals having been trending towards selfishness the last few decades. it's built into our way of life. largely, we're pretty immature.

As a member of Generation X, I agree in that I have always thought my group was wild. But we are modest cub scouts compared to the mindlessly stupid and narcissistic masses of the millenial generation.

Sure, there are a few worth talking to, but my God, the pajama bottoms in public, the need to say "FUCK" in every sentence, the outright rejection of monogamy in favor of 50 fuck buddies a year, the widespread mental instability, total disregard for others (including their own), and so forth. The generation behind them will most likely shame them a lot as they most likely will not be as absurd. At least, that is my hope.

i'm definitely a millennial and have been a part of the "trendy" activity. one word... "selfie" 'nuff said, really. a little external praise is satisfying. but like soul said... people bend their thoughts and attention on you for fleeting moments. short lived instant gratification. comfort with your self image and a sense of self-respect is one thing. it's a good thing! but allowing ourselves to forget the obligation to work on moral character, self-satisfaction being at the end of the road to happiness, fishing for praise, an ego-centric sense of reality ...how evolved do we really think we are since the Ptolemaic system? i think we've established ad nauseam that we have a little bit of greatness. certainly the potential for it. how bout addressing some faults for a change. i wager there's longer lasting satisfaction in that. stealing words from GOT and a phrase i've read often enough on dxp... kill your self.

k. gonna stop with the preaching and quote a psychologist, Kahneman, who said "[we have] an almost unlimited ability to ignore our ignorance." sums it up for me. wisdom and maturity are closely aligned, i think.
