The best workout is cleaning while dancing, especially the bathtub.
Housework actually counts as exercise haha. We had this huuuuge list of things that helped us calculate actual calories burned throughout the day. It included things like housecleaning, sex, walking up stairs, working in the yard, etc.

There's a website that actually has this information. I came across it awhile back when I was tinkering with some ideas creating a daily "more movement" regimen of sorts. I was even incorporating the Wii haha.

I'm 5'6 and 99 lbs which is very much genetic since my whole family is slim at all ages even after kids. I pretty much can't gain weight no matter how much I eat, which sounds great, but I'm seriously lacking in muscle and I hate feeling and looking fragile. I'm female so I don't want to be too vulnerable.

cardio is a no for me. I absolutely cannot afford to lose any more weight.
My goal is strength and fitness. I've tried gym stuff and all the repetition with weights and squats and stuff just hurts my joints. I feel like my knees would pop out their sockets. And this was under the guidance of a trainer, so it's not bad technique. Just not good for my body.

I did ballet for most of my childhood and really loved it and it was a great workout. I might revisit that.
This is most likely why your joints couldn't handle the weight and repetitive weight bearing exercises.

You should give pilates and yoga a try if you want to work on strengthening muscle without the heavy weight. Swimming would also be excellent. It does have a shit ton of cardio, but it's also a full body work out without all the gravitational force working against those joints.

DUDE. She came on here for help on what works for other people so that's what I gave her. What works for me.

When I say she can do her own research I mean on the "protein debate." I have done my research and I know what works and what does not.

Education is great, but aren't results better? Yes. They are....sweetie.
lol

Whatever makes you feel like you're right.

Talk to me down the road when your kidneys are fucked up. Protein is not why your work out is working for you. You also proved how insanely ignorant you are by downplaying education over "results." Are you shitting me? Did you even reread that before you posted it? Silly girl.

No?

In America, most people get more than enough protein in their diets.

If anything, vegans and vegetarians are more likely to need to focus on increase in protein. Gender has nothing to do with protein intake.

swimming is great. I was a comp swimmer for years. Only thing is really everything in moderation. I ended up working through rotator cuff tendonitis due to overuse. We used to practice sometimes twice a day.
Haha, I was thinking that when I was writing my response.

"It's great...as long as you don't develop overuse injury to your shoulders..."

But that happens more with competitive since it's done for SO many hours each week. Popping it into a workout routine a couple times a week should be okay, assuming no previous shoulder issues.

This isn't the exact site, but it's a similar idea.

Still looking for the one that I found. It was way more detailed and involved.

yeah defo. Like you said, everything in moderation. I'm giving my kidneys some more consideration btw 😛

It was all year round. I swam for a ymca year round and summer team also in the summer. So winter would be 3 hour practices every night and meets on the weekends. I had my high school swim team on top of it as well. Summer would be long course and summer swim team (more fun lol). It really was a lot.

It's like that with most competitive athletes though. They develop overuse injuries if they aren't careful and don't do enough preventative for it to become a problem.

When I was doing my athletic training clinicals, the women's soccer coach was nuts and overworked her girls. If they lost a game, she had them doing laps after the game... that they'd just spent an hour and a half running around for... after overtraining during the week.

By the end of the season, a majority of the team was in the training room, getting therapy. Everyone was injured. It was freaking ridiculous. I actually trained with them for a bit and I got cut from the team because I wouldn't tolerate her coaching methods. All the girls who knew better ended up leaving as well for their own wellbeing. I think the strength and conditioning coach even left at some point, as well as some of the assistants.

I wish I was a "work out" person but I'm not. I'm a "diet" person which totally sucks. I swear sometimes I wish I could just eat whatever I wanted but I'm always restricting and it's a living nightmare but whatever. I pick staying in shape and buying the clothes I love and having it look great on me over food.
Lets diet together and so pushups on skype.
