for what? the 80s? no
So why do you prefer it?
How I picture it
Fucking magical......and musky lol
Somewhere scorched is feeling highly violent
Ugh... I don't like the 80s except 1986 I guess. The rest is just uhhhmmm... Maybe, Tiz, you should come here to the Philippines, 80's music are being played everyday here. Every day. Lol.
Good music for 1986:
Blue Kiss
Manic Monday
True Colors
Hmmm... I don't like the rest of the 80s.
I miss when you could chase women like this and it wasn't called sexual harassment...... or attempted gang rape..

Such high standards, Tiz. I don't understand why people can be so nostalgic about the 80's. But looking at myself, I don't understand either why I like 90's so much. And the 60's and the 70's. Oh, I like the 40's too.

80s music is kinda weird.
There are few good songs from the 80s though.
Tiz, do you like Footloose?
What's your favorite movie of the 80s, Tiz? And song?

I'm just starting to like the 40s so not really anything particular. I usually judge a decade by the vibes it sends to me. I like fedora hats and that classic hairstyle women wear those days though.

Michael Bolton - How Can We Be Loversand Time, Love and Tenderness
again a mix of 80s/90s era
LOL. You will love it here in the Philippines. They always play 80s/early 90s songs on the radio... every day, everywhere!
1980's or 1990's, no competition at all, the 80's are far superior in every way:
Films from the 80's:
Star Wars (V and VI), Ghostbusters, Blade Runner, Alien, ET, Terminator, Indiana Jones films, Raging Bull, The Shining, Beverley HIlls cop, Mad Max, Airplane, Back to the Future, Scarface.
What came out of the 90's?
Forest Gump, the Usual suspects, The Matrix and Trainspotting.
80's music what is weird about:
U2, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, and loads of others...
In the 90's we had to put up with the Cure the Prodigy and the spin dr's, fortunately though prozac had been invented in the 80's so it helped people get trough that 😉.
I want to watch Third Man though. It's a 1949 film noir flick. Can't wait for the bar review to end! 🙂

Except that I am already immune to the 1980s. It's 80s overkill here in the Philippines. Lol.
Well I have heard people say that you can have too much of a good thing but too much 80's? Don't think so...
I think I'll have to make a visit sometime.
I graduated from high school in 1988. I think the 80's and early 90's were the last decades of personal freedom and individual expression. So much less group-think, political correctness, and social engineering than what I witness now.
Go to any mall or major shopping district in the US and they all look alike. Same stores, same merchandise.
Everything cultural has been gentrified into the same bland, uninspired mediocrity that supresses independent thought and expression.

Being a forum that mostly discusses Astrology I thought it's be good to stick my Natal Chart in there.
And from your earlier comments it seems as though you preferred the 80's... Think you must be jealous not to have had the chance to live through them 😉

I was just a kid in the 90s so I grew up thinking that I missed all the fun. The music, the fashion, and the pop culture were so much cooler during those times. I think the 90s officially ended September 11, 2001. Everything was so much different after that. @_@
It was actually easier...and far less complicated. Life was more black and white in that there were grey areas, but the grey areas weren't so BIG. Like, there was such a thing as an acceptable standard and the cost of living? Hell yes! The cost of living was miraculous compared to what it is now. I had a kid and my own place at 19 years old that I was able to sustain all on my own income. Even after having 3 kids, I was easily able to sustain off of my living wages. Shit...I have one kid left at home and I feel like I'm barely making it and my income is triple what it was in my early 20's. Culturally, I mean...it was a little mucked up in that racism was acceptable, but you KNEW how to navigate around it. There were rules and shit. Like for instance...the rule regarding police shootings...if you didn't run or buck the police, you didn't get shot. Now a days black folks are surrendering and STILL being shot/killed. It's crazy. I can't believe I'm actually seeing videos of grown ass men throwing their hands up in the air and still being shot in the chest...just CRAY!
Children were expected to do and NOT to do certain things and if/when they did those things...they knew they were on the side of right. If they did the things they knew they WEREN'T supposed to, they knew they were fucking up. It's not like it is now where kids are doing so many wrong things, and yet they don't even understand that they're doing wrong or feel like they have the right to do all of the wrong stuff. Just CRAY!!!
You were expected to get an education or training of some sort and that would definitely lead to employment. I've never in my life seen so many employed incompetent people and so many unemployed or underpaid competent people.
It's like there are NO rules these days and here I am maturing into old age in the thick of it. Shit...just CRAY!

We felt the same way about the 60's.
The70's good classic rock n roll. Some of the best music even to this day came from this time. My favortie show was Logans Run, anyone remeber this? And of course Wonder woman, bionic woman, etc..
I love the 80's as well, pretty much the only music i really have in my collection with a few odd n ends of newer stuff.
Miami vice, I watched every episode at least 4 or 5 times lol
Highlander, there can be only ONE 😛 The tv seriers was 90s however the movies started it all!
The movie Legend!! Pretty sure this launched Cruises stardom or was that Risky business? LOL
the biggest part of the 80s...was of course this!! I still remeber watching this in the living room the night it premiered with my family.. Man He was amazing!

Miami Vice - Where The Buses Don't Run episode...... arguably the best thing I've ever seen on TVemosh
We kind of get the message that you're obsessed with miami vice, sheeesh
The 80s are where it's at but the early 90s were kinda cool too.
There was this particular period going from, maybe 1985 to 1995 where, if you look at movies or television shows, all the people looked fresh-faced and have fantastic haircuts.
I can't explain it but the people looked more beautiful, it's like their skin was looking younger than people of other eras (of the same age).
The early 90s were a pinnacle in fashion, especially for men, it went downhill after that

I remember the early 90s looked bleak, urban and kinda gloomy to me, maybe because I started working, it was not as fun as the 80s. Also no more Soviet union, so you had to take the brunt of capitalism wthout no more glam. No more hope of a nuclear apocalypse to cleanse all the shit.
Difficult to pick a favorite 80s movie, but I can name: Flash gordon, Dune, ghostbusters, empire strikes back, escape from new york, terminator, aliens, indiana jones series, etc...
I think movies were a lil bit better in the 90s though.
The best thing I remember from the 80s/90s is that computers, cellular phones and internet weren't omnipresent like today, so whatever you were doing wherever you were going you were really living the instant. Back then technology was really a dream, not an instrument of mental slavery.
As for music, yeah there was defintely a big drop in quality during the 90s.

I was at a slumber party for my Sag friend's birthday.
@tiziani WHAT? i own it on VHS! LOL Do people even remember what those are 😆
My take is that it was about lost innocence.... both literally and figuratively
man they did have some good music on the show!
I love their "driving bitch face"
I was such a dork i had a huge crush on Crockett/Don Johnson ... i even did a hand sketch from just watching the episodes. lol no laughing 😛

It's not perfect by any means but i had fun doing it 🙂

Rob Estes from silk stalkings. Loved that show.

Yeah great show. To think that it was considered "erotic" back then. Nowadays, you can see worse things in children shows.
Man all this has brought on so much nostalgia... I miss those younger carefree days. My biggest worry was making sure i got to school on time or to actually show up! i graduated in 89- then it was time to be an adult!
I'm sitting here listening to the best of Phil Collins and man some major look backs on my life. Were does the time go—?
I blame Tiz and miami vice.. it sucked me into the youtube black hole....Time to go for a long drive with the music blasting!!
@Tiziani YESSSS With the top down, its a beautiful day today too! I may just drive to the lake! I may even start to think I am driving a lambo 😆
But my 430 SC will have to do!
when you're driving at night with your best homie and "in the air tonight" comes up on the radio

How does it feel....

Not sure if this link will work..I loved it.

I wish I was alive for more time in the 80s. Great movies and music and most importantly the golden age of American soap operas.
I loved growing up in the 90s tho. People had chill, Pro wrestling ruled the world and the Dallas cowboys actually had good football teams. Youth was great.

Did the 90s seem dark to anyone? I was a child so I wasn't a teen/adult but I actually thought it was quite dark lol.
Dark how?
How was it? Fucking awesome. So suck it!

I'm not sure because I was a child at the time, but something felt more serious during the 90s - like a secretive time. Sorry I'm useless at explaining what I mean because I don't really know if that was just personal to me or what.

Yeah I was a kid too so idk. It didn't feel dark to me. Especially compared to now

Whereas now you lot are jaded over there.
That makes perfect sense really

When you look at most "critic approved" American films now it's mostly jaded suspicion and paranoia. Not saying it isn't well founded (I have no idea - I don't live there) but it's definitely changed over the last decade.Whereas I miss when Hollywood was confident. And like you said, when TV has enough money to blow it would just hand tv networks big budgets for daytime tv and soap operas.
Yup soaps were not jut stuck in studios and could actually take trips to greece and england and shoot stuff there. Action adventure was all the rage. And there was hardly any reality tv shit. Blech. Just MTVs the real world lol. American films now are mostly remakes anyway. Which says a lot. Hell TV is the same way.
I do think some teens in the 90s had to be pretty darn cynical. I mean always listening to grunge. Yikes.
I miss ll the happy family shows
the 90s was hair paradise
