My idea of romance is something good but unexpected. Like a piece of chocolate from the petrol station when you get home just because... Just something that would surprise me.

I'm a gemini after all lol

I'm not romantic really. Romance to me is someone else knowing I will 100% support and protect their wellbeing on every level, yet I don't have to constantly remind them for them to understand. Like I find the whole being romantic thing extreamly cringy and childish. Yet I still respect others that what to be themselves and show it in their own way I guess. Me showing romance however is the fact I'd take a bullet for you, and would make myself suffer just to make sure you are even slightly above me in every way possible. I personally don't shower lovers in gifts and words. I like to give them a safe and stable environment where they can be happy, healthy, and thrive. I'll do whatever is necessary to make that happen also. Anything except act all stupid and mushy. I truly hate that for some reason.

I’m with what is romance? I had to look up the definition lol This is what I think romance is.. I guess someone trying to romantic:

to try to influence or curry favor with especially by lavishing personal attention, gifts, or flattery

But there were different definitions.

For me, I like to have someone give me extra attention, not so much gifts. To do the things they know I enjoy. Like a road-trip to the coast, walking along the beach barefoot holding hands, or hiking and/or exploring new things. I know it’s kinda Saggie like. 🙃

I love flowers so if I get flowers on a random day 💐🌸🌹🌷🌻🌼🌺 I would love it. I got some wild flowers that my ex picked when he was on a walk one day. I thought that was super romantic. Any small gestures to show appreciation and that you care and think about me.

I’ve had lots of romance in my life

An ex who was a travel agent wanted to get me a gift from the airport so asked a lady to recommend a Perfume….he said he described me to her and she recommended Je Reviens which means “I will return”. It’s the only perfume I liked as I wear essential oils. It made me smile as I believe in reincarnation.

I’ve had lovers write songs and poetry for me. The men i found most romantic were Aquas with water moons. Although I always appreciated flowers, I found the songs and poetry more thoughtful and something I’ll never forget

I was with an Aries guy..it was 2 am and we were walking around a city holding hands and he says to me “you’ve a heart of light and making me feel like a teenager again”. He pulls me into a side alley and we were snogging like crazy and he was saying “mmm mmm mmm”

Sexy, romantic, cute

i think romance is actively doing things the other person likes to do , showing interest in activities they like, taking part in their hobbies (and take turns doing it) it’s probably what kept our relationship going for 8 years. romance isn’t grand gestures though it sometimes can be, but it’s more in the simple things…

we’re in canada for xmas and my dude had me in the middle of a forest last week walking on some old, ancient ass bridge built in 1889 (i’m sure they done some renewal/maintenance work over the years but in my mind, i was like “😅😅” lol) and doing cliffwalks and treetop adventures and shit lol he’s the kinda dude who would easily spend an hour or two in camping gear shops, he loves the outdoors. i’m more of a beach person lol

but guess what, i had so much fun and wanna go again, in fact i might wanna go on a higher bridge/ cliff😆

but tonight though, he has to come see a hockey game with me even though he has zero interest in hockey lol

also, I think romance is something the other person is not expecting .

If the other person can easily expect it, it takes the magic out of everything.

For example, showing up at their city’s airport suddenly if you two are in a long distance relationship or something

Those unexpected surprises are like the definition of romance lol

so do something unexpected but fun and romantic.

I know what romance is to sags

It’s sex in the outdoors and in exotic locations 😅

How about rough in a barn in nature, where its windy and secluded and cold, with a big panorama window?

Umm yeah I’m sure you can find a sag somewhere that would find that romantic…

@Saggurl88 ? Yes or no? 😅

Ummm, In a barn with stinky animals? Sound more like dancing with wolves then romance! 😆 Seems stinky and dirty- not in a good way lol

Also sounds the the beginning of a kidnap and kill scene, "rough, secluded, and cold" isn't my idea of a good time.

I find it romantic when they come back with gift or mail letters cards from far away. Sneaking in cute notes and stuff in my lunch bag. Picking up something yummy to share. Planning our next adventure. Warming up my perpetually cold icicle hands.

My idea of romance to bf: randomly bring cigars, wine, and crab cakes. Run off somewhere random to explore when we are out, treat him to golf and dinner. Provide gentle affection: head scratches, back rubs, cuddles, kisses on forehead, cover him with blanket. Run him over with my car, raise my back hand. Make a something that takes a lot of time and effort.

Run him over with my car, raise my back hand.

One time, I seen a couple walking hand and hand down the street. The guy stops to instead link arms together with his lady, and the look on their faces were that of two people who were happy being together and proud to be seen with the person next to them.

I remember thinking how beautiful that simple display of affection was, and how it must feel to be adored by the one you're with. That to me, was romantic.

To be venusian and not know what this feels like for myself makes me laugh through the pain. 😅

I love seeing old couples like this ❤️

I like how most Sags here admit to not being very romantic or even knowing what it means lol

I didn't know that being thoughtful or understanding of your partner can be called romance.

I just thought it was something that is supposed to be done if you love a person.

Interesting.

There seems to be an element of darkness in most romantic media. Romeo & Juliet ultimate sacrifice was a suicide pact, Love Actually has a subplot stolen from A Short Film About Love which is basically stalking, Lady Chatterley - an affair and that's not to mention stuff which is rapey.

Romeo and Juliet was about a 16 year old boy trying to get a 13 year old girl. No wonder it was forbidden. 😅

But I can agree that sometimes people like being stalked and obsessed over, and they can find it romantic. I guess it all depends on their interest level towards the person doing these things.

Surprising a partner at home with flowers and showering them with kisses brings on a whole new meaning when there is a break up and this happens.
