Well worth a listen for irish harpsichord music and the illeann pipes together which is traditional.

Irish harp music from the classical period. Tabhair dom do lamh give me your hand.

by Ruairí Dall Ó Catháin

Sí Bheag Sí Mhor .. which is basically little mound big mound but its about the fight of the underdog

Its about the underdog or smaller countries having as much honour or right as anyone or any empire. (obv pertinent to Ireland lol)

Its about an old Irish story about the sidhe and the basic moral is honour or nobility isn't won through being rich or an empire but having skill and an honourable compassionate nature and reputation. And that even if you lose the battle no one can take that from you.

So this is supposedly about the Irish lightening god Lugh.

It's called the morning star

Lugh is sometimes called that or maidineog (little morning) which is also a name for a type of bird and a type of music scale .. or type of reel based on that scale.

Oh and yes before you ask Lucifier morning star is supposedly connected to the irish god lugh as he is connected to the roman personification of venus the morning star In Roman folklore, Lucifer ("light-bringer" in Latin) was the name of the planet Venus, though it was often personified as a male figure bearing a torch. Or prometheus who stole fire from the gods.

And lugh is that in irish myth. In irish myth the gods are a bit mean ..the fomorians and their chief balor tries to kill lugh.. and he and some of the fomorians run to ireland and little lugh is fostered by the tuatha de danann the irish ancestor gods lugh has bronze skin and red hair and is very distinctive and talkative. He leads a happy life until balor leads an army to come kill everyone. After balor kills the dagda eochaid ollathair the king of the tuatha de .. Lugh is faced with the painful deed of having to kill balor who is his grandfather. He then becomes king of the tuatha and is a noble kind leader. The tuatha de and the rest of the fomorians become one people.

Dont take anything above too seriously. lol There are lots of diff versions.

O' Neills march.

The old Irish system organized all professions and the military by clan and caste. All the military clans were up north. If you were born to a family in Ulster and you were male you were military. They say that is why all the men up there seem tough.

The O'Neills where the greatest military dynasty. They resisted the british till the very last. Today funnily the first minister in the north is an Irish nationalist of Sinn Fein and her name is Michelle O'Neill.

O Sullivan's march a northern military clan.

Their march

This is the story of the o sullivan clan from about the 1500s and the massacre they were forced to defend themselves from the english invasions of elizabeth .. every sullivan man woman and child fought the first one to die was a child that child's grave then became a pilgrimage site for republicans. They had to surrender to the English who then slaughtered every woman man and child by marching them off a cliff.

O Sullivan took some civilian tiny children with him to the west and hid them calling THEM his 'GOLD'.

They lost. But they fought so bravely as a community altogether they inspired Irish people for generations.

More history here.

This village man is very handful in his guitar skills that he could make various effects without any other sound production equipments.

I particularly love this song as well as it speaks about how the original composer of the song faces his late wife's death. Another more spiritual meaning is there was a Javanese spiritual guide created the song as a shield against mysterious bad lurking spirits.. the song titled "as the night fades away" / "Lengser Wengi".. yes I had written a short (vaguely completed) story a while ago and now that I recall it, had I been aware of things.. I could have been doing much better.. oh well..

More original version: (Javanese)
