This song got me into seriously playing guitar. First time this band used power chords. Looked up the tabs online and learned from there.

At this age of mine now.. I absolutely love his lyrics. So deep, so soulful.. so spiritual. i wonder how he was considered to be satanic by many people in the past. He is so far from satanic. Well.. he's a capricorn what else do i have to say? He is my bff 💕

Illean pipes .. they are diff from scottish bag pipes or Irish war pipes in that they have a squeeze box to pipe air to the chanters they quieter and made more to play inside and can usually play duets with other instuments. (bag pipes tend to be too loud) . But they give the impression of a war pipe or bag pipe without blowing the ears of someone inside a room. : D



This piece is another march but like you say about a story of community collaboration. Its the story of ANOTHER northern military clan . .. during the elizabethan wars of extermination .. the north resisted the most. Every member of the clans and septs both men women and child were expected to fight.

This is the story of the o sullivan clan from about the 1500s and the massacre they were forced to defend themselves from the english invasions of elizabeth .. every sullivan man woman and child fought the first one to die was a child that child's grave then became a pilgrimage site for republicans. They had to surrender to the English who then slaughtered every woman man and child by marching them off a cliff.

O Sullivan took some civilian tiny children with him to the west and hid them calling THEM his 'GOLD'.

They lost. But they fought so bravely as a community altogether they inspired Irish people for generations to keep fighting for survival.

He concealed 300 of the women, children and aged of his community in a stronghold on Dursey Island. But they were attacked by the British.

There is a child's cairn or burial site venersated to the child who was martyred in glen garbh. People walk every year to it in pilgrimage.

The elizabethan wars were basically genocide .. the English genocided the Irish three times in history. The Elizabethan wars the Cromwellian invasion and the famine.

Before the elizabethan wars clans got on and often defended each other against the english but so many got run off their lands they had no resources to provide food for their people so had to resort to stealing and raiding other clans this resorted in inter clan hostility which the english used.

Even during the troubles the UK used province differences in propaganda to sometimes turn the south against the irish in the north.

Every clan had military but the northern clans were the most fiercely gaelic?? and the only ones in which women were often in battle. And nobility were expected to take on the most dangerous roles and could lose their titles in the eyes of the northern gaels if they didnt and they were expected to put their own sons in the frontline. If a lord wanted to retreat it was expected he would take the entire community's children with him.

This was known as fleeing with his gold. Ag teitheadh ​​lena ór.

How gore!! Children to be brought to war? And how wicked English monarchy in the past! How tragic 😭 all in the name of homeland.. Aren't you glad that it had past after you arrived. Our country had never had children victims like that other than a girl shot during a past political battle between democracy and communism.. but then again, I am not educated about my countries past other than kingdoms take over.

Perhaps invasion doesn't do well in any passing times because it showed evil intent.. perhaps for that very history is exactly the reason why Ireland doesn't want to ever unite with the U.K, isn't it?

Now I recalled children's song that says, "London bridge is falling down falling down.." but twisting it was, when the bridges are down, they connect.

Why don't Irish resolute peace instead of recalling past wars? How is Ireland now?
