I wonder if men confuse selfishness with just knowing what you guys want and not giving in to other people.
I think most people are selfish when it comes to their own needs. Anyone calling someone selfish usually just means that they aren't getting their way.
I think the two are interrelated. Stubbornness is a form of selfishness as it hinders compromise within a group. It manifests in not relenting so that the other person has to give in..especially if the Aqua has a good read on that person through observation and can gauge their reactions. I see this more in the males than the females though.

Aqua women are more stubborn in intimate relationships as opposed to group relationships.
I never experienced stubbornness in the men, they always bend to my will.

Putting yourself first is a good thing. Your a better partner, friend, parent, employee, etc etc if you prioritize your needs and are a balanced individual.

On the flip side the person who calls another selfish cause they aren’t doing enough for them is, by definition, selfish.
Personally I think only kids can call a parent selfish. They didn’t ask to be brought into this world. So there’s certain expectations there.
Otherwise nobody really owes you anything.

I know an Aqua who always talks about how much she loves other people, particularly her son and her grandmother, but she also uses them. She knows her grandmother is broke and on a fixed budget, but she takes her money anyway. She has stolen from other family members several times. She tries to ride on her son's coattails because he is smarter and more successful than her already (and not yet out of high school.) For example, he won a computer for some coding contest at school, and she tried to guilt him into giving it to her. He acts like he is mostly immune to her bullshit now, but I've noticed it's made him hard.
She's horrible.... beyond selfish. I can't relate.

I think selfishness is acceptable and a positive trait in moderation.
In the end if you don't put yourself mentally as first in life then you are accepting the idea of being a pushover and getting walked on. In a sense you fail yourself, which means you also fail every single person that put their hope and faith into you. It forces them to be pushed over and walked on because they trusted you, but you couldn't even trust your own confidence enough to take advantage of the things that could potentially make life better for everyone. Even if that ment being selfish for a period of time.

I am getting serious deja vu. I think someone asked this before, and I answered the same before. And then I followed up the same way I'm going to now. Anyway, this woman had an unusually difficult childhood. It's not an excuse, but it does explain her behavior.

Some aquas think their opinion is gospel and just like to talk down to people. If you want a prime example, look up Tony Ferguson in the McGregor/Nurmagomedov post-fight conference.
Theyre stubborn as hell when they think you're wrong about something, and they seem to determine whether you're right or wrong on a whim; trust you today and doubt you tomorrow. Example, one day my former manager was just hell bent on doubting me and another employee (both of us, she considered very reliable and self-sufficient) when we told her the card used to unlock a door stopped working. Got to the point that she eventually walked over to the door herself and only believed us when her swiping the card didn't work. She'd trust us in much more serious and complex issues and then sometimes just refuse to take to our outlook on something simple.

Yeah I can see how some people would say that. Aquas are mostly objective decision makers. The argument could be made that coming to a conclusion without allowing feelings to influence your decision yields more accurate results than not. Just playing devil's advocate.
For me, on most occasions. I really don't care to sway anyone to my vote, so.........shrugs. I prefer to use my energy for other things. I'm well aware of how the males operate, but I'm not interested in their behavior right now.

Seemed like she either deemed you two idiots for that moment or thought you two were kidding, Idk. People aren't trustworthy in every situation. For instance, I trust my bff with my life, but don't trust him to sleep in the same bed. Makes reasonable sense to me.
