There's a lot of bad and terrible things said about Narcissists...

I happened to take a test on a psychology website and I scored very high... I shared it with my friends and their scores were at least 10-15 points lower than mine.

I don't consider myself a terrible person but I feel like I acquired many of these traits or abilities after being in a toxic relationship for many years.

What do you guys think about this?

Narcissism exists on a spectrum and being clinically classified as a narcissist is very, very rare. However, pretty much everyone exhibits traits that are linked with narcissism. This is due to the fact that traits like selfish-ness, arrogance and insecurity are very common. The more crucial indicator (which must be tested clinically) is a lack of empathy.

So while you may exhibit some traits linked with being narcissist, it is highly unlikely that a psychologist / psychiatrist would classify you as one.

if you think you're a narcissist then you aren't one

they are overboard with denial and wouldn't even take the test

Interesting... I kind of lack empathy, or it is very rare when I feel touched by someone's pain.

my friends have noticed this, my bestfrriend once called me first before anyone else to tell me she had cervical cancer.. I did not feel any heart rate changes or anything (I don't know how to describe it because I haven't felt it ) but I reacted in a way that calmed her and we got

down to talk about how she should proceed.

I always volunteer to help, my family, my friends, people call me when they need emotional help. (issues with boyfriends or family)

at the end I asked her if she had told her parents she said not yet, she wanted to talk to me first because I wasn't going to start crying a river and instead fix the issue. Now that she knew what to do, then it was easier to tell her parents.

When my kids fall and get "booboos" I don't feel their pain (one of my friends makes a huge deal when her kid gets hurt) Instead I get a health kit, soothe them (because I want to calm them) and make it all better. I feel like if I go crazy about it they're gonna be even more worried and that doesn't help at all.. and I don't feel their pain so I just try to find another way to confort bc I know they need it.

Is not that I thought if I was a Narcissist and went to find a test.. Actually a friend of mine one day while having a very in-depth conversation he told me I had Narcissist traits, so I became curious about it and looked for the test. now everytime we talk and something "Narcissist " comes out of me he says...There's your Narcissist side!

I mean... that's me lol and is not something bad that I would need to change.

That all seems like the acts of a good person. Your actions speak louder than any online test could.

One of my "Narcissist" traits is Manipulation.

my friend says I Manipulate people (to my convenience) but I don't really put it that way.. Let's say I need a favor from a friend and sometimes I hate asking people favors bc most of the time they say they can't, so I "manipulate" them into doing it out of their will.

Now, I don't lie to them is just the way I say things bc I know how they react.
